With BIGBANG‘s first ever Australian tour coming to Melbourne and Sydney soon, we thought we might refresh your mind with who the boys are that are coming to steal your hearts.
BIGBANG is a South Korean boy band was formed by YG Entertainment. Their official debut was August 19. 2006, consisting of the members G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, Daesung and Seungri. While they are more a hip-hop style band the boys dominated the charts with their breakthrough single ‘Lies,’which ran for seven weeks on the Korean Charts breaking records in its path.
For their first comeback the boys then released ‘Last Farewell‘ and the eternal heart breaker of a song, ‘Haru Haru.’ Their official first win was in 2008 when they won Artist of the Year in the Mnet Korean Music Awards.
Every single member of BIGBANG has had a successful run as a solo artist from GD’s first album and named title track “Heartbreaker” which won the 2009 Album of the year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards to Seungri and his album ‘VVIP‘ which was released in 2011 where he won a triple crown on M!Countdown.
We have also seen sub units come out of BIGBANG from GD&TOP to GD X Taeyang which dominated the charts with their hit song ‘Good Boy.’
BIGBANG has never shied away from stealing your heart be it from their amazing music video concepts or their stage shows which capture the audiences heart and their loyal fans aptly known as V.I.Ps.
MADE is their current series which is taking the world by storm. It was announced by YG Entertainment that they would be releasing a new album and singles at the beginning of the month for four months. ‘M‘ debuted with ‘Loser‘ and ‘Bae Bae.’ ‘Loser’ charted at number 1 and ‘Bae Bae’ charted at number 2 on Billboard‘s World Digital Songs chart.
“A” came out on June 1st with ‘BANG BANG BANG‘ and ‘We Like 2 Party‘ which again took number 1 and 2 on Billboard’s World Digital Songs Chart.
“D” came out on July 1st with ‘If You‘ and ‘Sober‘ which again landed the boys on Billboard’s world Digital Songs chart at numbers 2 and 3 respectively.
On August 5, ‘E‘ was released with 2 songs ‘Zutter‘ and ‘Let’s Not Fall In Love.’ ‘Zutter’ included the sub-unit GD&TOP. ‘Zutter’ being a 19+ rating has caused some controversy with it’s MV. Both ‘Zutter’ and ‘Let’s Not Fall In Love’ have surpassed over 7 million views on YouTube to date.
Each member of BIGBANG has played a part in their overall success both locally and internationally.
Sydney and Melbourne shows have both sold out, leading to YG Entertainment and Award Entertainment to announce a second Sydney Show with VIP tickets selling out in a matter of hours.
With this kind of enthusiasm it is little wonder to see why BIGBANG are truly the Kings of K-Pop.
