On November 25th, boy group GHOST9 released the music video to their latest title track, ‘Control’. This comes off the Maroo Entertainment act’s 5th mini album, ‘NOW: Who We Are Facing’ released alongside the lead single. The EP contains 6 tracks and is the third part of their ‘NOW’ album series. Booked out this year, this the 3rd comeback for the group in 2021. Their last release was approximately 5 months ago in June with their 4th mini album, ‘NOW: When We Are In Love’. With the peppy title track, ‘Up All Night’, the septet transform to display their darker charms once again with this latest single.
‘Control’ utilizes trendy trap beats and samples from classical music to bring a theatrical yet modern listening experience. Solidified with vocals in unison, the lyrics call out to release your fears and sadness and go to the members instead. Its varied instrumental sounds easily glossed over upon first listen, however, multiple listens allow you to fully take in the textures of raps and strong vocals provided by the boy group.

GHOST9 ‘CONTROL’ MV:
Watching the music video, it looks equally story driven mixed with beautiful scenes of the performance aspects. Opening with the members running away, we see one of them trip onto the floor. Introducing someone behind a black mask, they torment the boys in various ways. From physical torture in the form of knife throwing, running over by car, and abuse, they also appear as hallucinations in the guy’s minds. The members all try to escape from this nightmare with the end showing some, but limited success.
Choreography wise, the collective combine more refined delicate moves during the classical sections before dropping hard during the beat drop of the chorus. The chameleon like charms and quickness in change is astounding for a group that only a couple months ago celebrated their 1st anniversary.
