I’m sure all Filipino K-Pop fans are excited about the upcoming and the most anticipated K-Pop concert in the Philippines—the Dream K-Pop Fantasy Concert! Will you really miss this once in a lifetime concert where SIX K-Pop groups (EXO, Infinite, U-Kiss, Tasty, SNSD and Tahiti) come together and make your night memorable? I will even attend this concert and I can assure you that this concert will never be forgotten, a very memorable experience!
Since the concert will be held at SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds, plus its “free standing” (except those who bought VIP Diamond which is seated), it will not be as comfortable as in an air-conditioned indoor arena. So I’ll give you some guidelines on how you can survive the concert while spazzing at the same time.
1) Bring an Umbrella
I’m sure you guys will go to the concert and start lining up as early as 5am just to get the best “view” in the venue, right? So, with this, you should bring an umbrella or else you’ll have a bad time if you don’t have one, especially around noon. Also, you don’t want to look dark or sun-burnt, right? Or do you want the stars to see you looking like “tocino”? Of course the answer is obviously “NO”. So I advice you to bring a handy, foldable umbrella not just to protect you from the heat of the sun but also we don’t know if it will rain or not.
2) DO NOT Bring The Following Items
Apparently, SM MOA Open Grounds do not allow the following items in the venue (not sure if this is updated but better be safe):
-Professional still and video Cameras
-Big posters/banners/placards/signage
-Laser pens and pointers
-Weapons and/or any sharp objects
-Candles, fireworks and/or any kind of pyrotechnics
-Glass/pet bottles, cans, hard plastic containers, etc
-Large back/waist packs and bags will be subject for inspection
-Alcohol beverages and illegal drug
-Large chains, spike bracelets, wallet chains, large metal belt buckles
-Food
-Chairs (any type)
* Pregnant women and minor should sign a waiver prior to entry
* For safety reasons, children below 4 feet are not allowed inside Bronze and General Admission Sections
3) Eat Well AND Stay Hydrated
It was just mentioned in #2 that food are not allowed to be brought inside because there will be food available inside the venue. However, you can have food while falling in line, waiting for the gates to be open. You can have some nuts, chips and any other snacks just to keep yourself un-hungry. You need to have full of energy for the concert because if you get so excited (add your hunger and tiredness) that you pass out at the sight of your bias doing some hot or sexy moves, and with that you’ll have regrets.
You don’t want to look just like the one on the picture, right? So remember to eat well AND stay hydrated!
4) DSLRs? Don’t Think About It.
If you really want to, go ahead! High-res photos of your idols would be so much worth it anyway. However, keep in mind that some MOA Open Grounds security can and might pound on the insides of your bag with full force, hammering it like a goddamn garlic, while checking your things at the entrance. If you don’t want to learn the hard way then let’s just follow rules, but if you still want to bring, then I won’t stop you, so good luck with your expensive cameras!
5) Comfort Over Fashion
I know some of you are thinking of dressing up in a “Korean style” or cosplaying your favorite K-pop star, but I discourage you from doing that. There are a lot of reasons; first, it’s so freaking hot in Manila and you would sweat like you just came from your morning exercise. Second, people would be so tired from lining up and waiting that they wouldn’t care less about taking your photo or even take a look at what you are wearing. Third, the idols would be performing on stage and you are not the only audience so please just leave your false eyelashes, platform shoes and layered, Korean-inspired autumn clothing at home and just save them in another event, plus your make-up will melt too, and doing a retouch is quite a hassle. Just wear something light, bright and comfortable clothes. Maybe wearing bikini and flip flops sounds good, but would you dare to wear something like that? Hehe….
6) Pack Light
It’s 3pm and it’s still 5 hours to go before the concert will start. You’re all crushed up against the barricades and the girl beside you has some serious body odor. You can’t pee because someone might get your spot. You’re hungry, you’re tired, heck, and you even realized that you left your sparkly “MARRY ME, DONGHO” banner at home. Could it get any worse? Well, it could, if you’re carrying a 15 kg bag and you just have no space to put it down.
7) Important Emergency Items
You never know when things can get crazy so better have these in your bag:
– Medicines like paracetamol and loperamide
– If you can smuggle it in, bring Gatorade so you will be re-hydrated faster
– Extra SIM card (because MOA is notorious for blocked signals), in case you lose your friends and you need to contact them. If you’re bad-ass, bring a walkie talkie. LOLZ.
– Extra shirt/s
I might bring a Gatorade to have more energy for the concert. I’m quite a sick person so I’ll make sure to bring some medicines too. ^^
8) Chill. Show Respect. Keep Your Dignity.
No matter how much you hate one of the groups who will be performing there, I highly discourage you from saying anything hateful against them out loud or being all “anti” and shit. For your safety. I mean, you can get beaten up or worse, a brawl could break out, which is totally eeewww (and you will be thrown out by security, hence, losing your chance of seeing your bias doing some aegyo). Keep things positive! Spread the love! Let everyone have their fun! And make this concert more memorable to you which you can brag to your friends.
9) Fan Girl/Boy Essentials
You are going to the biggest K-Pop event in the country and literally you can’t stop from spazzing and just thinking about them will make you go insane. You may bring your “Fanraphernalia” like:
– Light sticks (long ones *might* not be allowed since long umbrellas are also prohibited)
– Banners/Placards (please be considerate though. The people behind you paid to watch the idols, not stare at your “mini billboard”)
– Kpop Shirts (for fandom identity purposes. If you don’t have official shirts, you may wear their official color)
And don’t forget to memorize the Fan chants!!! Fan Chants are really nice to hear! Trust me!
10) Watch With Your Friends
Trust me, it’s best to watch concerts like this with your closest fandom friends. Not only will you not get bored while waiting in line, your screams will be louder, your excitement will be greater and it’s an awesome moment for you all to share, which will strengthen your friendship! But to those who are going alone, you don’t need to feel sad or won’t feel energize, along the way you can meet new friends and may get close to each other because both of you have the same bias or have the same favorite group/s. Meeting new friends are also nice!
So, with these guidelines, you will have no problem in seeing your favorite idols on stage while performing some hot and sexy moves that will totally make you go crazy.
Let’s all have fun at the Dream K-Pop Fantasy Concert this January 19! See you all there!
