Officially KMusic would like to wish BIGBANG a very happy 10th anniversary!
Members: Leader: Kwon Jiyong (권지용) (G-Dragon); Choi Seung-hyun (최승현) (T.O.P); Dong Youngbae (동영배) (Taeyang); Kang Daesung (강대성)(Daesung); and maknae Lee Seung-hyun (이승현) (Seungri).
Former member: Jang Hyunseung (장현승) also former member of B2ST and current member of the duo Troublemaker. (Left BIGBANG just before their debut.)
They debuted on August 19, 2006 from YG Entertainment with their first self titled album.
In 2007, they came out with Always and it included “Lies”, which quickly rose to the top and made record breaking records for 7 weeks and later won Song of the Year at the Mnet Korean Music Festival for that year.
They kept making hit after hit with songs like, “Last Farwell,” “Stand Up,” and their most known hit, “Haru Haru”.
Later in 2008, they got the Artist of the Year award, again from Mnet and the moved on to include the Japanese marking and their second Korean album, Remember.
They also did “Lollipop” with label-mates, 2NE1.
Later on in 2011, they would come out with BIGBANG 2 and Alive, which included their biggest and most world renowned hit, “Fantastic Baby.”
Also in 2011-12, Taeyang and G-Dragon came out with their first solo albums and the sub-unit, GDTOP came out.
The maknae of the group, Daesung and Seungri went into acting and hosted a lot of variety shows.
Daesung went onto doing a lot of work in Japan, including work on some dramas.
T.O.P was also starting his own acting carrier in various TV shows and films, also co-starring with Seungri in the film, 19nineteen.
Sadly though, in 2011, some of the members where experiencing some legal issues and their Tonight promotions where cut short.
Also that year, they where the winners of the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Worldwide Act and Alive was on the Top Billboard 200.
In 2015, after their longest hiatus to date, they came out with M.A.D.E and did something unlike other groups before, they had two songs (most with corresponding) music videos for each song and came out on the first of each month, at midnight KST, including their best hit-to-date, “Bang, Bang, Bang,” and once again breaking records in the Korean music industry and all over the world with most viewed music videos and most downloads for their songs in less than 24 hours.
In 2016, Forbes Magazine said they have earned $44million US Dollars (approx. 48,644,420,000 Korean Won) in one year.
They came out with their A-Z and 0-10 exhibit and concert tour to celebrate their 10th Anniversary and they are also having a special project with UNICEF Korea.
