Happy 11 year anniversary to TVXQ/DBSK! December 26th was the group’s debut date, as the group debuted as five in 2003. Despite many, many ups and downs, they’re still around to entertain their fans around the world. Let’s take a look at some of the most memorable music videos!
“Keep Your Head Down”
This is one my favorite TVXQ/DBSK songs and music videos. It was one of the first music videos released by the group after their line-up change, and it has everything; a good beat, excellent dancing and of course, the obligatory, “U-Know Time.”
“Humanoids”
The music video is futuristic, and in my humble opinion it is the first time we get the chance to see Changmin really shine. That is not to take anything away from Yunho, but up until this point, I think Changmin was always kept a step behind the group’s leader. Take a look below and see what I mean:
“Catch Me”
This music video is a close second, some days tied for first as my favorite TVXQ/DBSK music video. The choreography is stellar, creative, and forward-thinking in comparison to other musical groups. And not to mention, the special effects are top-notch. This music video was one of the reasons that for the longest time, SM Entertainment was known for having some of the best dancers in K-Pop, with the choreography to back it up.
“Spellbound”
I am not sure what happened in the time period following “Catch Me,” but with the exception of maybe one or two music videos from their label-mates, there was a, shall I say, decline in the overall quality of the music videos put out by SM. Most of the songs were just ‘Okay,’ and the dancing was about par with the rest of the industry, whereas before, as I mentioned, SM’s idols had been known for their dance skills. Despite all of this, “Spellbound” still manages to stand out, and is still flawlessly executed. Check it out:
TVXQ/DBSK continue to be one the most popular Korean groups in the world. The guys set a new Japanese Oricon Chart record for topping the charts four consecutive times, the most by any foreign band. That record was previously held by the American rock band, Bon Jovi.
And so I say congratulations to the guys, and we look forward to many more years with you..
I am sure that any TVXQ/DBSK fan, or even long term K-Pop fan, can tell you there is something missing from this list (or three somethings, but that will be addressed. Keep an eye out for that article soon!). Tell us what you think! What is your favorite TVXQ/DBSK song or music video? Leave your thoughts and comments below.
