It is hard to believe that it has already been two years since we first heard “Who’s That Girl” from a new boy group MR.MR! Let’s celebrate this special occassion with videos that best summarize the group’s career to date.
MR.MR debuted as a five-member group on October 4th, 2012 with song titled “Who’s That Girl”. The song has everything it needs: a catchy chorus, nice beat and impressive choreography with a few key points. And, let’s face it, the fact that MR.MR are one of the highest boy group out there only adds to it.
MR.MR’s debut performance does not seem like their first show at all. They control their breath and look very comfortable – just like they were born to be on the stage.
One of the most famous pictures MR.MR have ever uploaded onto their SNS accounts must be the photo taken with Tiny-G. The picture is the great proof how tall Jin, Doyeon, Changjae, Tey and Ryu actually are.
The second song MR.MR released was “Highway” for which the team collaborated with the same producers who stood behind “Who’s That Girl.” A few weeks after the release of the drama video, they unveiled a dance practice video in which they look so handsome and talented. I am sure a lot of fans fell for them thanks to that video.
In June of 2013, the boys make fans even more crazy for them with the release of “Waiting For You.” The song itself was really catchy, and the music video had a very interesting and surprising plot.
On October 1st, 2013, before the release of their 3rd digital single, it was announced that Jiwon will be joining the group as the sixth member, but due to his injury he had to postponed. Instead, Hon took his place and returned with the group on November 8th with “Do You Feel Me.”
Music video for “Do You Feel Me” is the one that has the most views on YouTube up to date. No wonder – the song is amazing! It is still one of my most favorite K-Pop songs and I have it on constant repeat on my playlist. That sentiment also applies to the music video. I love how MR.MR use their microphones as props for the choreography and how manly they look while dancing with them.
Unfortunatelly, in their short 2-year career, MR.MR could not escape from scandals. The new member Hon found himself in the middle of controversy with a transgendered woman who has written a Facebook post in which she accused a “male idol B that debuted in November” for casting her aside after taking advantage of her resources. When people started to guess that it was Hon she was talking about, Winning Insight released an official statement in which they wrote, “Transgender A’s writing has nothing to do with MR.MR’s Hon. These claims are groundless. After checking for confirmation, we found out that A and MR.MR’s Hon were friends that counseled each other about their concerns even before A became a transgender. There was a time they helped each other out financially, but they are not more than friends. Contrary to A’s assertions, the claims they were more than friends, they were living together, she introduced him to a host bar for work, and she filmed their sexual intercourse are all false. Resulting from the controversial writing, Hon is having a hard time because of the shock and hurt he received from a friend whom he had trusted. They are preparing to sue A for defamation.”
Despite denying all the reports, Hon decided to leave the group only few months after his debut. And even though it was revealed that the transgendered woman has lied about the controversy, Hon’s decision was sadly irreversible. We hope that he is still able to pursue his dream of being an idol without the shade of her erroneous claims making it impossible.
Another controversy came soon after, when MR.MR announced that they will be releasing a self-titled single on February 28th. However, the world-famous K-Pop group, Girls’ Generation, announced that they will be returning with a mini album titled “Mr.Mr” on February 24th. Fans started to wonder if the boy group wanted to mock the girls, but MR.MR’s representative denied all the allegations. Soon after that, MR.MR released a new single that contained the lyrics, “How could you do that when I’m right here? / Girl, you come out so easily from behind the curtain / Not me, but another mistake, Mr.Mr / I bet you’re amused by my embarrassment,” and, “I become faint for a main like you / Am I loser and are you a winner? / We’re going the same path / I must have looked small from your high perch / Is that why you did that to me?” Winning Insight’s CEO himself confirmed that it was true that the song was a diss directed toward Girl’s Generation’s company SM Entertainment.
On April 25th, 2013 the group returned with a single titled “It’s You” which was dedicated to their fans. Soon after it was announced that MR.MR would be releasing a new single “Big Man” on May 16th. We haven’t heard from the group since then, and we are really looking forward for their comeback!
MR.MR has been gaining a lot of popularity in Japan where the boys have been performing quite often.
Also, the boys have previously sent two shout-outs to you, our beloved readers. In case you have missed them, you can watch them below.
Happy Anniversary MR.MR! We wish you a lot of success in the future!
