One of the most anticipated shows of Seoul Fashion Week, J. Koo and Songzio had spectators both inside and outside of the event. Usually a popular show, the runway featured actors and Kpop idols.
Husband and wife duo J.Koo, designers Jinwoo-Choi and Yeonjoo-Koo, displayed delicate looks. Some see-through tops, ruffles, lace, cropped pants paired with fishnet socks made up the ensembles, but the crowd, made up of the youth of Korea was exceptionally excited despite the simplicity.
Established in 2010, their brand is deeply inspired by the English style of men’s tailoring.
J.Koo was named one of the winners of 2015’s International Woolmark Prize for the Asia region, along with Munsoo Kwon. The prize celebrates outstanding fashion talents from around the globe who showcase the beauty and versatility of Merino wool. It is the world’s most prestigious award for rising fashion stars.
The SONGZIO collection was beautiful, straddling the boundary between simplicity and abstraction, with influences from nature to ornament the boring norm of business wear. Other pieces expressed an Indian influence evident in kurtas, with a loose fit and a-line cut.
One of the many exciting aspects of Seoul Fashion Week is seeing which Kpop stars will show up to the event but Lee Jungshin, the bassist of CNBLUE and an actor, returned again this year to model for SONGZIO. Svelte and standing at 188cm, the artist’s presence was that of a natural on the runway. The Kpop star walked along with fellow actors Oh Ji Ho, Song Jong Ho, and Cho Yeon Woo.
