With ‘Produce 101’ finally coming to an end, the new eleven member group I.O.I gets ready for their official debut.
With Mnet, CJ E&M, YMC Entertainment, and any label they are still under as trainees, I.O.I released their first music video with pre-debut track ‘Crush’ composed by Ryan Jhun. It was initially planned that the new group would debut on April 1 with ‘Crush’ being their debut single but Mnet and YMC decided to push it back and concentrate more on the concept and a new mini album for the newly formed group instead.
On April 3, an agency representative mentioned that the girls would officially debut in May with the album instead of just one or two tracks. It is projected that the extended play would feature ‘Crush’ and ‘When the Cherry Blossoms Fade’ composed by B1A4‘s Jinyoung among others. What the rest of the album will entail is still a mystery.
Ahead of debut, the company uploaded the teaser for ‘Crush’ showing the eleven new members on April 4.
The next day, CJ E&M released the full music video of ‘Crush’ with I.O.I in the recording studio and playing around with the choreography sporting comfortable clothing.
I.O.I is expected to promote four times throughout the year. Two times will be as a full group and two times will be as units. They girls are already doing photo shoots, commercials, and ads while slotted for variety shows as well. What did you think of the new group? We want to know!
