Girl group power quintet Red Velvet are back, with their 2nd album repackage, ‘The Perfect Red Velvet‘!
The MV for the title track, ‘Bad Boy‘ starts out with an unexpected sweetness, a completely polar opposite to the ravishing, neon comic-book style of the last weeks’ teasers,
The initial scenes present us with members in fluffy eye-masks, seductively tapping away on vintage typewriters, amidst billowing white curtains, and it’s only when their wardrobe transitions suddenly to edgy fishnets, chains and acrylic crucifix earrings, does their graphic concept make a dramatic reappearance.
K-Pop’s current favourite MV prop, the Supreme money gun, also makes an appearance, as Wendy livens up a very casual high-tea experience with an aloof power stance, and some aerial won.
‘Bad Boy‘ is a melodic, uptempo ballad about female confidence and empowerment, that you’ll easily find yourself bopping along to.
It certainly takes us in a refreshingly different, mellower direction than the intensely seductive rhythm of ‘Peek-A-Boo‘, or the electro-pop explosion of 2017’s ‘Red Flavour‘ (which are both incredible when performed live)!
Red Velvet always impress, and this strong 2018 repackage is no different; we can’t wait to see what their next full release has in store for us.
