It’s that time of year again my fellow K-Pop fans, Chuseok is upon us and now our idols are sharing their well wishes for this special time of year. If you’re not familiar with Chuseok is a time when Koreans return to the homes of their ancestors and give thanks for their families as well as the harvesting of crops. It is often compared to Thanksgiving in the US and the Moon Festival in China, Taiwan and other Southeast Asian countries. This year, Chuseok is from September 7th until the 9th.
There is a tradition among idols to leave hanbok-clad messages on YouTube for their fans at this time of year. A hanbok is the traditional Korean outfit most often seen around traditional holidays and in historical era dramas and movies. A lot of idols just wish their fans and their families a happy and peaceful Chuseok, others take the time to update us on future plans for comebacks and promotions while some (BTS I’m looking at you) just take the time to be silly and try to lighten the mood. This year, the happy messages are appreciated even more than usual. We decided to show you some of our staff favorites and give you a playlist for all that we can find.
First up, BTS. As mentioned, they did not do a traditional recorded message. Instead they did a dance rehearsal in hanboks. Trust me, this is not to be missed.
One of the favorite groups of the staff here at Officially KMusic is SHINee so of course we picked this one to share. They may not have done it hanboks, but the message is still the same!
Teen Top are gearing up for their upcoming comeback (scheduled to be released just after Chuseok) so it was no surprise to see them in full traditional gear. Aren’t they adorable?
A.Kor has made waves for their member Kemmy‘s bad choices but everyone messes up and should be given a second chance. What better time to do that then the holidays, right? Particularly in light of recent events, life is too short to carry grudges particularly. Here are the girls looking adorable in their hanboks!
Last but not least is rookie group 4Ten! They made quite an impression on the staff here at Officially KMusic so we were particularly excited to see their message!
There are many more already but we just couldn’t share them all here with you. We’ve made a handy playlist for your enjoyment and fan-appreciation needs. I know I squealed many times watching these. One of my favorite things is to see my idols being relaxed and happy and this time of year and these videos give me that. I hope you enjoy the rest of them as much as I did. Keep an eye out for more messages from your favorites! Let us know which one you love the best in the comments below!
