There’s a new girl group around, and they’re different from everything you’ve seen so far in K-Pop.
UNICORN is formed by five members: Winnie, Yoojin, Rumi (former Purplay member), Gayoung and Sally. They’re produced by the R&B singer Kim Jo Han under Show Brothers Entertainment, and their name relates to the goal of the group: they’re like a unicorn’s horn, which is said to have the power of therapy.
The group was first introduced through Naver TV Cast’s web miniseries ‘I Am a Girl Group‘, and later released their EP ‘Unicorn ‘Once Upon a Time’‘. They debuted with ‘Huk‘ earlier this month, and proved to be different from anything we’ve seen so far. ‘Huk’ is a play of words: since “k” and “g” are written with the same letter in Korean, it means “hug”, but it’s also a Korean expression for when you’re shocked about something. Very creative, right? Check it out:
Their music video is extremely colorful and the girls’ beauty was noticed at once. With a cute choreography and a catchy song, UNICORN has already conquered some fans. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was that some of the camera angles showed a bit of the studio outside of the scenario, but it doesn’t make the video less likable or the song worse. I liked this group a lot.
What did you think of them? Let’s hope the girls can succeed with their debut and come back soon with another amazing song!
