With Infinite H making their comeback with song “Pretty“, which won on many music shows, Hoya appeared on February 10th’s episode of Mnet‘s 4Show, a star documentary that spotlights a person from 4 different points of view, and revealed some very personal things.
Infinite‘s Dongwoo, AOA’s Choa, who was a trainee with Hoya, and actor Park Chul Min, who became close with him while filming “Hiya” together, shared their thoughts on Hoya from their points of view.
Hoya confessed that the motivation behind his success is revenge and an inferiority complex. He also revealed his past of failing his auditions and coming to Seoul after dropping out of high school to put everything into achieving his dream to become a singer.
Another thing he shared was the inner struggles he went through from the misunderstandings brought on from the drama “Reply 1997” where he made his official acting debut.
Hoya’s character Joon Hee was portrayed as a male who had a crush on another male, Yoon Yoon Jae, played by actor Seo In Guk.
He says, “I didn′t have that many complaints because of all the love from the drama, but speaking about it now, I also received a lot of misunderstandings. After appearing on “Reply 1997″ I heard people referring to me as a sexual minority [homosexual]. Even celebrities asked that question and it was really shocking to me. The trauma I received then was really serious. It lasted for a year since the drama ended.”
Dongwoo, Choa, and Park Chul Min also mentioned the trauma that Hoya endured saying people asked them if Hoya really was a homosexual. Dongwoo explained that Hoya did such a good job in his role as Joon Hee that it made people ask questions.
The episode also includes a music video of Hoya’s self-composed song “Pretending That It’s Okay” that he completed after editing it many times saying, “It contains my color in the most innocent way as it is my first song.” A dance video from when he was 11 years old will also be revealed during the show.
