On October 19th, female soloist IU released the music video for her new single, ‘strawberry moon’. This marks her first release since March’s full album, ‘Lilac’ which featured the identically named title track. The single in the true artist’s fashion has already topped many of Korea’s music charts.
Lyrically, the song describes itself as the emotions felt when in love feeling like a complete fantasy compared to a strawberry moon. Her airy vocals breeze over pop-rock instrumental to create an easy listen. On the cover of South Korea’s ELLE magazine, she stated she wanted the song to be comforting, without any complicated thoughts, and no sadness. She wanted something anyone could relate to and enjoy peacefully. The slight electronic elements in the song add to the glistening mystical vibe the package brings.

IU ‘STRAWBERRY MOON’ MV:
We open with the ‘Coin’ singer’s pink weatherboard house at night. Going through the upstairs window, she looks out revealing a strawberry coloured moon appearing from the cotton candy like clouds. Touching items in her room like vases, they begin floating midair like magic. Soon after, she starts floating through a magical force. This cuts as we see her and a beloved sitting on top of a planet, taking a scoop of strawberry ice-cream from the moon. Jumping across planets, there is a montage of the time they had at her hose, taking photos and sharing loving moments.
Back in the skies, they drive a convertible out the clouds and arrive at an elegant lookout. Standing together with the Earth below, they hold hands and admire the fantastical strawberry moon.
