On July 5th, (G)I-DLE‘s JEON SOYEON made her solo comeback with the music video for her latest title track, ‘BEAM BEAM’. Coming with the track, the artist also released her 1st mini album, ‘Windy’.
This mini album marks the first official solo release by the rapper since her 2018 single, ‘Idle Song’ prior to (G)I-DLE‘s debut. ‘Windy consists of five tracks, all penned by the artist. It also includes a collaboration on the last track, ‘Is this bad b****** number?’ with rappers LEE YOUNGJI and BIBI.

JEON SOYEON ‘BEAM BEAM’ MV:
The pop and rock elements of the track mash well together giving the song a rough but bright edge to it. This complements the singer and rapper’s unique tone that has propelled the leader’s group in stardom. Mixing between charismatic and melodic raps, to her nasal vocal, the song is full of character, ready to conquer the summer.
Watching the MV, we see the Cube Entertainment rapper working at a fast food joint. Tired from serving customers, she exits out the front of the counter and starts spontaneously dancing. With customers in line and at tables joining in, the tune comes into its chorus. From a baby blue and yellow uniform to a grungier black ensemble, the now turned rocker moves to the beat with her standing mic and burger mascot behind her. Transitioning then to the outdoors, a dance crew backs up the singer now in hip summery attire. Accidentally bumping into someone eating their ice-cream and causing it fall to the floor rendering it inedible, an instant dance battle ensues between them. Coolly making up, the video brings us to its end with plenty of dancers led by the 22 year old being carefree and jamming out under the summery heat.
Selling over 30,000 copies so far, the physical version of the mini album also is on-brand, being in the shape of a fast food takeaway box. It looks fantastic even to be a collector’s item.
