Indie soloist, Sunwoo JungA, and CNBLUE‘s lead singer, Jung YongHwa, have teamed up for a collaboration project that YongHwa has said “I thought that it was meant to be — destiny.”
The ‘Empathy Collaboration Project’ is not only a joint effort amongst the two artist but also with their companies. JungA is with Strawberry Magic Sound and YongHwa is with FNC Entertainment. Each company dropped a music video for the project, both featuring the opposite artist.
The two worked together to create a different sound and both wrote the songs that would be featured on the single album. ‘입김 (Hello)’ was written by YongHwa and is a soft indie ballad with a strong acoustic feel which goes perfectly for JungA, whom the song was written for. Whileas JungA wrote ‘불꽃놀이 (Fireworks)’ for YongHwa with a more upbeat electronic rock sound.
This is the second time that YongHwa has collaborated outside his label with another artist. In 2015, he had a duet with JJ Lin, a Singaporean artist under Warner Brothers Taiwan, for a ‘Checkmate’. This song can be found off YongHwa’s solo album, ‘One Fine Day’.
JungA is has been laying low for the last year. Her most recent single was ‘Purple Daddy’ back in 2014 in which she performed in the cabaret circuit.
Both songs are written so beautifully and really suit these two singers perfectly. I tend to favour ‘Fireworks’ over ‘Hello’ but have listened to both on a repeated loop. Which song is your favourite? We want to know!
