Friday the 9th Of August 2019 marks K-pop group ATEEZ’s first Australian Tour beginning in Melbourne!
ATINYS GO WILD!
It all took place at Margaret Court Arena at 7pm, but for Atinys it began even earlier. Fans have sacrificed sleep and warmth for the group, camping around the venue a week in advance just for a spot to see the K-pop group ATEEZ. Due to bad weather security had to relocate fans for their safety but some fans were determined! The early birds began lining up at around 6am AEST and the venue opened the outside for the public to line up at 8am AEST. Throughout the day, fans gave out free fan-made merchandise to fellow Atinys and also held a random Kpop dance event outside the venue for everyone to get involved and enjoy.
As security gathered the official line at 6pm AEST there was also a special performance by OneForAll dance crew based here in Melbourne, who were the winners of the ‘Illusion’ dance cover event. They gifted Atinys waiting outside with an amazing cover to ‘Illusion‘, ‘Aurora‘ and ‘Hala Hala‘. Their winning video was also announced on the big screen at the beginning of the concert! UKC Bias Dance, another Melbourne dance crew, also performed gifted Atinys with a great performance to ‘Wave‘! This was a great way to represent Melbourne for ATEEZ!
ATEEZ AND MADDOX TAKE THE STAGE!
7pm AEST marks the moment Melbourne Atinys hearts were stolen by ATEEZ in person and it left everyone speechless.
Maddox who is a South Korean solo singer and composer also under KQ Entertainment, was introduced as a member of KQ Entertainment on November 20th, 2018, and debuted on April 3rd, 2019. He joined ATEEZ on their Australian Tour and took the stage in introducing ATEEZ, doing the voice over for the introduction video ‘Who Is Your Treasure?‘. ATEEZ kicked off the night with so much energy performing their debut song ‘Pirate King’, followed by ‘Treasure’ and ‘Desire’.
The members then greeted us with their greeting and went on to introduce themselves one by one. They each did their absolute best showing off their English skills, from calling us their “Destiny”, to Seonghwa saying “Hello Australia’ & ‘Hello my Little Star” and then to most of the members screaming out “AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE”. The members all expressed their happiness and gratitude during their speeches. Atinys surprised Mingi by singing ‘Happy Birthday‘ to him twice at the beginning before his introduction. Near the end of the night, he shared how happy he is that he gets to spend his birthday in Australia. Yeosang promised us during his introduction that “tonight will be a night we will never forget” – he got that right!
ATEEZ slowed down the mood by performing ‘Light’ and ‘Stay’. They had another speech break and they expressed how much they wanted to perform here in Australia and how much they love Atiny and their Australian experiences.
Australian Atinys were then gifted by a special stage performance from ATEEZ of their dance covers of ‘Sicko Mode’ and ‘One Time Comin’ before having Maddox back up on stage whilst they prepared for the next part of the concert. Maddox performed an original song ‘But Maybe’ and a cover by Allen Stone ‘Unaware’. He thanked us all for the love and shared how it was his first time performing in front of a crowd like us.
ATEEZ came back out and graced us with performances of ‘Illusion’, ‘Wave’, ‘Aurora’ and ‘Twilight’ with a lot of confetti! Fans were worried as Seonghwa didn’t take the stage for these performances due to a previous sickness he hasn’t fully recovered from. Members went ahead with the performances for Atiny.
Before the bridge break, the members read out fan questions from Twitter and answered them including each members saying “G-Day Mate”, to dancing to their hit ‘Hala Hala’ in a cute way. Wooyoung and Yunho even had a go at dancing to the moves to ‘Aurora‘ to ‘Hala Hala’, showing off their duality and even a random K-pop dance play. They danced to EXO‘s ‘Love Shot‘, ITZY‘s ‘Dalla Dalla‘, Chungha‘s ‘Gotta Go‘, and the viral hit ‘Baby Shark‘. Break then took place with a VCR played of the members asking each other questions and behind the scenes during practises back at KQ HQ.
ENDING THE NIGHT WITH A BANG!
The VCR ended with the black and white short performance video of ‘Hala Hala’, but ATEEZ then joined us back on stage including Seonghwa performing the strings version of ‘Hala Hala’ and also ‘Promise‘ with an amazing amount of energy that even the sparklers went off. Between then and the next performances, Seonghwa gave a speech to us Atinys to reassure us that he is feeling better and even though the members and management insisted he rest, he pushed to come and perform for us. The crowd became emotional. Hongjoong then announced the ending of the concert and that they will now perform the last few songs. ATEEZ went on to perform ‘My Way’, ‘Say My Name’ and ‘Utopia’ then left the stage. The screens went black and the crowd chanted ATEEZ for an encore.
In the midst of the darkness the ATEEZ logo appeared on the screen in black and white and in the background you can hear the members screaming “What’s My Name?“. Each time we screamed back ‘ATEEZ’ the logo would fill up bit by bit in red. Once it was completed the members came back out for their encore. Hongjoong said “The more you call out to us we will come” and also went on to saying that they will be back soon, before getting a group photo with the crowd!
ATEEZ ended the performances with crowd interactions and a amazing performance of ‘From’ and ‘Dancing With Butterfly Wings’. The arena filled with confetti as the members waved goodbye and bowing to then slowly leaving the stage.
The members definitely gave us all a night to remember, and marked our hearts for life. The waiting was all worth it. The members gave us their all. The ATEEZ concert was such a special night, and fans are waiting for their return.
