Kicking off the concert season once again, 88rising’s Head in the Clouds festival took place from November 6th to 7th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The two day festival brought several artists from overseas to the main stage in Southern California, including many Korean acts.
On Saturday, artists Audrey Nuna, DPR Live, DPR Ian, and CL took the festival stage, with sets ranging from 30 to 45 minutes long. The Korean American R&B singer and rapper, Audrey Nuna, performed songs such as “Top Again” and “Cool Kids,” leaving the crowd jumping around and hyped up.
When it came time for DPR Live and DPR Ian, it was no surprise a large crowd showed up for their performance. Squished next to the main stage, audience members went wild as the duo performed hit songs such as “Diamonds + and Pearls” off of the Shang Chi soundtrack, “Martini Blue,” and more. Aside from songs together, DPR Ian also performed solo songs such as “So Beautiful” and “Scaredy Cat,” while DPR Live brought songs such as “Hula Hoops” and “Jam and Butterfly,” featuring special guest Eaj.
As CL helped round out the night with her set as the final Korean act for day one, everyone in the crowd became a GZB as she kicked off her set with a small snippet of “Dirty Vibes” that quickly transitioned into “The Baddest Female.” CL hyped everyone up with hits such as “MTBD,” “Lifted,” “Spicy,” and “HWA,” slowed it down with songs such as “5star,” and even surprised fans with a performance of “No Blueberries” with DPR Live and DPR Ian. The baddest female herself ended her set with, “Hello B*tches,” sending the crowd wild before the next performer.
Sunday started off with FEELGHOODMUSIC’s Tiger JK, Yoon Mirae, Bizzy, and BIBI. BIBI set things off with songs such as “The Weekend” and “cigarette & condom,” setting the crowd wild as she threw condoms into the audience during the latter song. Continuing the hype, MFBTY took the stage and made sure even those who didn’t know who they were, were able to remember them by the end of their set. The trio performed songs such as “Bang Diggy Bang Bang” to keep the crowd going, and slowed it down with songs such as “Angel.”
Rising star Seori wowed the crowd during her set with songs such as “Lovers in the Night,” showing off her soothing vocals. She also surprised fans with a performance of “Dive With You,” bringing out special guest Eaj.
Eaj, or Jae from Day6, wrapped up the weekend’s impressive set of Korean performers with a short 25 minute set that did more than enough to show off his talent. Storming onto the stage with a burst of energy, Eaj performed songs such as “Wallflower,” “Car Crash,” and an emotional rendition of “50Proof.” Not one to miss on an opportunity to surprise his fans, he also brought out special guest Keshi for a performance of “Pillows,” and special guest Seori for a performance of song “It Just Is.”
All in all, this weekend was full of good music, and even greater performers. Special thanks to 88rising for allowing Officially Kmusic to cover the event, and make sure to head over to our Facebook page to check out photos from the weekend!
