Day6 might only be about 3 months old since their official debut but the support they got from their fans was indescribable. The 5th of December marked a special day for all Singaporean Day6 fans as they got to spend two-hours at the Korean rock band’s first ever fan meet.
Held at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, the fan meet started with the band playing 2 songs titled “Out Of My Mind” and “Habits” from their first mini album “The Day.” They then started introducing themselves one by one starting with Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil and followed by Jae and drummer Dowoon. The emcee almost forgot to introduce Junhyeok, luckily Jae alerted the emcee and fans couldn’t stop screaming Junhyeok’s name just to hear his adorable introduction.
When the emcee asked on how excited they are to be meeting their Singaporean fans for the first time, Jae replied, “Very excited!” and asked the fans whether they were excited to see him. Of course, the fans had to scream as a form of reply to their idol. Wonpil then said he did not expect Day6 to be really popular here in Singapore. He also added that he was really shocked to see a lot of fans welcoming the band at the airport.
The emcee then asked the audience how long will they be willing to wait just to see the band again and the fans couldn’t stop screaming. The emcee then continued to ask the audience, “Even for 1 month?” and the fans screamed “Yes!”
Then the band continued with their performances of “You,” One Republic’s “Stop and Stare” and their very own rocking rendition of Wonder Girl’s “Nobody.” The fans could not stop singing along with the band while they were performing!
The fan meet then proceeded with members of Day6 picking out lucky fans who later in the fan-meet got the chance to play some games with them on stage. A total of 12 lucky fans were being picked out for fun activities.
For the first part of game segment, 6 girls out of the 12 lucky fans chosen then played a “Guess Which Member of Day6?” game. Their eyes were blindfolded and the members had to whisper into their ears which made all the other fans really envious of them. Three out of the 12 girls got a chance to take a “we-fie” with the members and the winner of the game got a chance to take a selfie with all the members of Day6!
As for the second part of the game segment, the 6 members were divided into two groups with one group consists of Jae, Young K and Sungjin and the other group consists of Wonpil, Junhyeok and Dowoon. The other 6 fans chosen were partnered with each of them to play “Pass the Message” using their drawing skills. All the 6 members of the band showed their ‘impressive’ drawing skills that got the audience laughing non-stop while they were playing the game. The group consists of Wonpil, Junhyeok and Dowoon turned out to be the winner of the game and each fan partnered with the boys got a chance to take a selfie with their respective partners. As for Jae, Young K and Sungjin, well they resorted to taking a selfie together which later was posted on Jae’s official Twitter and Instagram.
Right after, the members performed “Like That Sun” and “Colors” for the audience. They were then stopped by the emcee to watch a video compiled by their fans which made everyone present during the fan meet really touched. Following that, the fans also prepared a cake as a form of an advanced birthday celebration for Young K’s birthday which falls on the month of December.
Young K bowed to the audience while thanking them while making hearts using his fingers to the fans who put in a lot of effort for the surprise event. Sungjin then thanked the fans for the video compilation. The band then prepared their last official song for the night called “Congratulations” which got all the fans who were seated either running to the front of the stage, or standing on their chairs just to sing along with the band.
What’s a concert without an encore? The fans cheered loudly and the band came back on stage once again to perform a medley cover of Bruno Mars’ songs including “Grenade,” “Count On Me” and many more.
Before performing their last song of their encore, the boys gave a closing speech with Wonpil first thanking the fans for the love they had received from them that night and he would try his best to repay the fans after receiving so many presents from them. Young K then continued thanking the fans for their birthday wishes and surprised the audience by confessing that his parents were present at the fan meet to watch him perform. His parents flew all the way from Toronto and it was his dad’s first time watching him perform. His mom then replied to him with a cute heart sign.
Dowoon thanked the fans and the fans couldn’t stop screaming when he ended his speech with “I love Singapore!”
On the other hand, Junhyeok got everyone laughing when he started his closing speech with “Sorry I don’t speak English very well. Only Korean.” He then continued his speech in Korean, “This is our very first time in Singapore. I am happy here to perform and it is something I cannot imagine… this love and support that you guys have shown today and today is my mother’s birthday! So I will work very hard to earn lots of money so that I can invite her to my shows. I love you my fans as much as I love my mother! Thank you.”
Then, it was Jae’s turn for the closing speech. “You guys made me feel hella smart, like super smart because when I’m in Korea and I do concerts I say a rant of things like ‘Man you’re crazy’ and then everyone looks at me like I’m crazy. But you guys laugh with me! So yes! Singapore, we had so much fun.” He ended his speech by saying how much he love Singapore which got all the fans cheering non-stop and then got them screaming even louder when he asked for a photo with all the fans present at the fan meet.
The fan meet then ended with Day6 performing their last song “Freely” which got all the audience jumping and screaming before the boys left the stage and gave their final farewells.
