DJ HYO, also known as Hyoyeon from the chart-topping idol group Girls’ Generation, kicked off her third U.S. Summer Tour at Milwaukee’s Summerfest on July 28th. Her tour announcement, which came just weeks before her debut performance at the world-renowned Summerfest, surprised many. The idol-turned-DJ is the first K-pop headliner to ever grace this major Midwestern event, and this visit marks her second time in the state, following her stop in the capital in 2023 during her first solo tour.
Although her set lasted just under two hours, the crowd went wild for each song. Defying expectations, her setlist payed homage to catchy tracks outside of the viral trend. However, one standout track, Tyla’s “Water,” had the crowd chanting along to its irresistibly catchy chorus. Throughout the performance, HYO radiated with joy, smiling and dancing while alternating between her headphones and the soundboard. Her enthusiastic interactions with fans showed how thrilled she was with the night’s turnout.
The set concluded on a high note, leaving fans with many unforgettable memories. HYO’s unique presence made a significant impact, especially in a state rarely visited by K-pop idols. Though unconventional, her tour’s kickoff was unmistakably a DJ HYO concert, marking a memorable night for both her and local K-pop fans.
Special thank you to Milwaukee Summerfest and DJ HYO’s team for allowing Officially Kmusic to attend!
