After bidding adieu to SM Entertainment, former Girl Generation member Jessica Jung is doing just fine. The 26-year-old multihyphenate recently returned to Singapore in her latest identity as Founder and Creative Director of BLANC & ECLARE, and brought her fashion foray to new heights with the debut of the label’s first ready-to-wear Denim Collection at multi-label boutique, Salon by Surrender.
Hundreds of clamouring fans were outside the store for the launch event on 27 Aug 2015, hoping to catch a glimpse of the star. The first 120 customers who had purchased S$350 or more of BLANC & ECLARE were the in-crowd who got to meet Jessica up-close and personal at the exclusive signing session in-store.
Switching gears from her superstardom as a performer to join the ranks of fashion designers, Jessica shared at the media conference that she loved fashion since young – and that little girl had always wanted do something related to fashion.
Fuelling this aspiration is her flair for design and love for classic aesthetics. A believer of less is more, Jessica’s personal style features strongly in BLANC & ECLARE, which boasts an ensemble versatile pieces that are timeless and effortless chic. As explained by the style icon herself – “I don’t like to overdo things. I like to keep things simple. My brand has the classic aspect with a modern twist.”
When asked about her favourite BLANC & ECLARE item, Jessica pointed to the sailor-inspired tee she donned and went “Well, this is the bestseller so far!” Smiling, she continued to share that denim is in fact her favourite style and her love is the high waist skinny jeans, Manhattan. She enthused, “it comes in two colors, and the fit is perfect for Asians. It hugs the body comfortably and gives the illusion of longer legs.”
Jessica also adores her sunglasses, which were inspired by the cities that she fell in love with. So no surprise there when she named travelling as a source of inspiration, citing the different cultures and colours that rouse creativity. Jessica also draws inspiration from her mom, whom she admires dearly for her elegance.
Fans will also be thrilled to know that there might be a Jung sisters’ collection for BLANC & ECLARE in future, as well as potential collaborations with other fashion-enthused artistes.
Jessica did not touch on her entertainment career and plans this time around. But the young entrepreneur did share that the pros of working independently, is being able to make decisions on her own and communicate easily with her creative team. She mused that she hasn’t experienced any cons as yet.
If you are wondering where you can get your paws on the merchandise, BLANC & ECLARE is available online and in over 40 specialty shops and exclusive retail locations around Asia!
