The KCON 2017 Australia Day 1 Red Carpet lived up to expectations with all bands making an appearance. SBS PopAsia’s Andy Trieu and Kevin Kim hosted the event and are firm fan favourites themselves as was evidenced by the screaming fans when they came on stage to introduce the groups.
SF9 was the first group to make their way along the red carpet. They smiled and waved to fans as they arrived on stage to be interviewed by Kevin and Andy. They shared their excitement at being able to greet their Australian fans for the first time and promised that they would be back again.

The only female group to perform on Day 1, Girl’s Day came onto the red carpet to fans who welcomed them with shouts and cheering. They were very sweet and showed off their charms to their Aussie fans at the request of Kevin and Andy.

The most highly anticipated appearance on the red carpet was that of EXO. Despite only having flown in that morning, they looked relaxed and refreshed on the red carpet. The fans were beyond excited to see them in Australia for the first time (minus D.O and Lay who had other commitments and couldn’t make the trip). The support and love shown to EXO reached fever pitch with the roof nearly being lifted off with all the cheering and screaming.

They greeted fans and took their time posing for photos before introducing themselves as a group and individually. Kevin and Andy asked them a few questions, and EXO leader Suho spoke very eloquently in English and told the excited audience that they were looking forward to their performance and hoped the audience would enjoy the show.
