By Day 2 of KCON NY presented by Toyota, most con-goers were more than accustomed where their favorite tents and food trucks were along with exactly which panel was where which allowed for more exploring.
It was hard to go hungry with the Nongshim Shin Ramyun tent giving away samples of ramen if you win their game, Melona offering popsicles in three different flavors, and food trucks that filled the Edison ParkFast parking lot with Korean tacos, kimbap, lobster mac & cheese, sikhye (a sweet traditional Korean rice drink), ice cream donut sandwich, and more!
Day 2 didn’t disappoint either in terms of surprise interactions with artists. Day6 made a special appearance at the Toyota booth to do a small meet and greet with fans.
Various panels that educated fans on ‘How to Start Your Own Podcast’ and ‘Banishing Bleackheads to K-Drama Makeup Tips with Alicia Yoon of Peach and Lily’ filled the panel tents with eager fans as the day grew to night.
Even hours before the concert had started, fans had already lined up to enter the stadium to ensure the closest spot to their favorite artists.
As the stadium filled to the brim, JuNCurryAhn appeared in a white sweater with his bright red hair and his signature violin in tow. He cued the start of Day 2 of M Countdown’s KCON All Thing Hallyu presented by Toyota Concert with his rendition of Descendants of the Sun’s OST and ‘Save Me’ by BTS.
Just like the night before, Ailee and Rap Monster of BTS were the MCs as they welcomed the fans back to the stadium once again.
MAMAMOO walked on stage as their introduction ended and kicked things off with ‘You’re the Best’ and ‘Mr. Ambiguous.’ They then proceeded to heat the venue up with ‘Taller Than You’, seduced the audience with ‘Piano Man’, and ended with ‘Um Oh Ah Yeh.’
After that, Eric Nam suddenly appeared in the audience stairs with a bouquet of red roses as he handed them out while walking up to the stage. His angelic voice projected into the crowd as he sang ‘Good For You’, ‘I’m OK’, ‘Heaven’s Door’, and ‘Into You.’ During his second talk break, he mentioned how it had just became knowledge to him that so many fans liked his 2014 single ‘Ooh Ooh’ as he gracefully sang a portion acapella style after the request from a fan.
Day6 followed with their soft alternative/pop rock performance of ‘Letting Go’, ‘Congratulations’, and ‘Freely.’
They proceeded to do a special remix of CN Blue’s ‘I’m a Loner’, Big Bang’s ‘Lies’, and Wonder Girls’ ‘Nobody’—to which MAMAMOO joined them on stage.
Following that, Ailee and Eric Nam appeared on stage performing a cover of JunggiGo and SoYou featuring Lil Boi of Geeks’ 2014 hit single ‘Some.’
As the grew dark, it was evident that only the main headliner of KCON was left to perform—BTS, and like fames, they rose from within the main stage with their latest hit song, ‘Fire.’ Even if the fans were exhausted from the two—two and half—days’ worth of nonstop fun, there was no way they could have remained in their seat as the stadium literally heated up.
Next, Jimin was seen alone lit in blue and purple lighting as he began the sequence for ‘Save Me.’ Jungkook, V, and Jin took their turns in the spotlight as their intro parts filled the stadium and soon the rest of the members joined them.
The beats of ‘Boyz with Fun’ followed by ‘Cypher Part 3: Killer’ pulsated through the attendees’ veins as the members made sure to spread out to every part of the S-shaped stage extension.
Unfortunately, as we all know, all good things must come to an end. BTS ended the two day convention with their hit single ‘Dope.’
As the show came to an end and each of the artists came back out to bid their goodbyes as the confetti rained down, it seemed like no one wanted to leave.
Afterwards, fans lingered outside of the venue chattering about how ‘perfect’ the whole weekend was and how they ‘must find a way to go to LA too now.’ KCON NY presented by Toyota was definitely a magical weekend that is sure to have been engraved in each and every attendee’s memories! It definitely has been in mine! We look forward to more fun filled events from KCON USA in the future! Are you?
