Having only debuted three months ago, NCT DoJaeJung made their inaugural U.S. unit performance on July 20th at Fandom’s annual Fandom Party in San Diego, CA. As the fifth unit of NCT, the group consists of already debuted members Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo, hence their name DoJaeJung, and their appearance at the party also marked the first time a kpop group has headlined the event.
The annual Fandom Party, held during the annual San Diego Comic Con, is hosted by Fandom, the largest fan platform in the world. Returning for their sixth year, there was no better way to end the show than with NCT DoJaeJung’s breathtaking performance. Suitable as members of NCT 127, the unit partnered up with Z2 for their upcoming NCT 127: Limitless manhwa (graphic novel), each member stepped on stage appearing as if they had just stepped out of a manhwa themselves. Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo performed songs off their one and only EP, including title track “Perfume,” “Dive,” and “Kiss,” heating up the already hot summer evening.
Impressing everyone with their flawless harmonies and high notes and sharp yet smooth dance moves, the trio managed to impress all attendees. As the kick-off party for SDCC, the event was full of industry professionals, media representatives, influencers, and fans, known as NCTzens, who showed up and showed out for their favorite group. Surprising staff, NCTzens waited in line all day under the scorching summer sun, armed with neon green outfits and the signature NCT lightstick. The fans showed unending devotion and love to NCT DoJaeJung, cheering loudly for their performance, and introducing the industry crowd to a kpop fandom’s passion.
Even despite the late night performance on a weekday night, NCT DoJaeJung still brought in a full crowd of fans, and performed an unforgettable set as their first ever U.S. unit performance. Showing off their live vocals, synchronized choreography, and fiery passion and stage presence, the short yet sweet stage was one fans will never forget.
