Recently Officially Kmusic had the amazing opportunity to interview Topp Dogg during their preparations for their latest comeback ‘THE BEAT’ and also gave us a shout-out which you can check out here. Topp Dogg is a 10 member group under Hunus Entertainment that debuted in 2013 with the song ‘Follow Me’. P-Goon, Jenissi, Hojoon, Sangdo, Nakta, Hansol, B-Joo, Xero, A-Tom and Yano are undeniably some of the most talented artists in the industry whose signature sound achieves the seemingly impossible: having a strong hip-hop influence while still retaining an exceptionally original and unique sound.
While they were gearing up for their comeback, Jae was able to meet with the boys and get to know them a little better, here’s what they had to say:
Question: How does it feel to have come this far in your training and preparation in becoming TOPP DOGG?
[P-Goon]: It’s been two years as a team. With all of the practice and preparation for becoming Topp Dogg I believe we have gotten together very well. Our teamwork has improved. Our team spirit as well. We have a lot of interaction between fans, I think we have a long way to go from now on. That is why we are preparing this album so much. We hope this will be another start for us as Topp Dogg.
Question: In your travels abroad you all have experienced many different cultures, languages, and food. What was your favorite experience?
[Hojoon]: We have been traveling a lot. And we always have a great time going overseas to tour. Especially memorable time this time we went to France. Actually the fans made an award for us. It was very touching. It was a great experience for us. Any food and cultural thing is so great there can’t pick any exact one.
Question: Have you been to Australia yet?
Answer: No, not yet.
Question: What is the craziest thing to happen to you on tour?
[A-Tom]: So during the tour, I can’t remember the date but during a US date.
[P-Goon]: There wasn’t really a crazy moment but a memorable moment for us was when we were in Georgia, we had some free time after the showcase. We went to the Georgia Aquarium where got to hang out together and have a great time.
Question: What was the most difficult choreography for you to learn so far?
[Xero]: The most difficult choreography for me was the dance for ‘Open The Door’, there’s this move where I have to turn with my knee and every time my knee would bruise. It was very hard to do that choreography all the time. The most hardest choreography for us as a group, would have to be our latest title song for this upcoming comeback, it’s really cool.
Question: Is there a style of music or genre that you want to try?
[Sangdo]: I don’t have a style for music, I love all genre of music. I especially would like to try Reggae music.
Question: What are your greatest influences in music?
[Nakta]: We get influence doing the music, we’re influenced by my feelings. If I’m in a bad mood I can’t do any music styles or song. Or activities. If you are in a good mood you can be very creative.
Question: What concept would you like to try next?
[B-Joo]: I actually really like this album’s concept very well. This is exactly the concept I wanted to do. But if there’s another concept we have to do for the next concept I would like to do an upgraded version of this concept. One with more details.
Question: Who would be your dream collaboration?
[P-Goon]: Jay Z and Beyonce
[Sangdo]: I’m not too sure.
[Hojoon]: Taeyang
[A-Tom]: Chris Brown
[B-Joo]: Childish Gambino
[Jenissi]: August Alsina
[Hansol]: GD Sunbae
[Xero]: Me too, G-Dragon sunbaenim
[Nakta]: f(X)
[Yano]: Pharrell Williams
