P1HARMONY brought their UTOPIA: Live Tour to Australia this July. Intak, Soul, Kehoo, Jiung, Theo, and Jeongseob performed their hearts out at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on the 18th and Sydney’s ICC on the 21st.
The crowd screamed when the “Street Star” started blaring through the speakers. The fog and lights surrounded the middle of the dark stage as the members triumphantly rose from beneath the stage.
The setlist, filled with B-sides and fan favourites, saw high-energy performances from each of the members – but the most dynamic part was the solo stages that the 6 members thoughtfully planned for their Utopia tour.
Theo kicked off the solo stages with a beautiful cover of Stephen Sanchez’s “Until I Found You” accompanied by his mesmerising guitar playing. It was a moment of calm before Intak took control with a dance choreographed to “On My Mama” by Victoria Monet. The cheers of the crowd seemed to push Intak to perform to his absolute best while he busted a move on stage.
The venue turned green when Jeongseob charged onto the stage while performing his rendition of A$AP ROCKY’s “Praise The Lord”. He had fans chanting and filling in the lyrics with a wave of his microphone. This performance was definitely a fan favourite.
Soul then did what he does best and performed a high energy dance to a medley of songs, with theatrics and absolute power the was unmatched. It was truly a sight to behold. Then Keeho, katana in hand, sung R&B hit “Kill Bill” by SZA. It was a chance for Keeho to dazzle his fans with his out of this world vocal skills.
The solo stages concluded with an obvious fan favourite, “Baby” by Justin Bieber was Jiung’s choice. He danced with vibrance across the stage while the fans sang along with him at the top of their lungs, Ludacris’ rap included. The venue was alight for every minute of this performance.
A speaking segment followed where the members reflected on their solo stages. They explained how the performances they carefully and thoughtfully planned were personal and honest to them, with their own tastes at the forefront of creating them. While discussing their individual stages, the members then reprised their solos with short acoustic versions and they encouraged their fans to sing along.
Soul deemed Sydney’s show to be the best utopia date so far, and Itak added on that it was also the sexiest. The boys then discussed what they did in Sydney, retelling their visit to Newtown where they had Chinese food and visited a knick-knack shop that they really enjoyed.
Jiung mentioned his disappointment that he wasn’t invited to the Popular Culture Convention “SMASH” that was held at the venue next door. They then scanned the audience for fans dressed in Cosplay from their venture
earlier in the day. P1HARMONY took advantage of this to pick two of their dressed-up fans from each side of the crowd and sang “Countdown to Love” to one, and “Siren” to the other lucky fan.
They then highlighted the difference in the weather between Melbourne and Sydney and how much they enjoyed being in Australia before they raised the chant – “AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE”. “OI OI OI” P1ECES cheered in reply.
It was a night filled with immaculate vibes, powerful choreography, otherworldly vocals, cinema-level VCRs, generous fan interaction, and a whole lot of fun.
We cannot wait for P1HARMONY to visit Australia again soon. Ever since the HallyuPopFest, we knew that P1 could bring an unmatched concert experience and we have been so lucky for them to bring such fantastic shows Down Under ever since.
Many thanks to Box Live AU for this opportunity!
