ToppDogg visited the shores of Singapore for their first overseas fan meet on Sunday, January 12th. The 13-membered rookie Korean boy band which made their debut in 2013 treated their Singaporean fans, ToppKlass, with a line-up of performances from their 1st titled album ‘Dogg’s Out’.
ToppDogg kicked off their showcase full of energy for their fans at the Queenstown Community Centre Auditorium. They started the show off with their debut song, “Follow me” causing the crowd to cheer along to their passionate performance.
The performance was followed by a short self-introduction and the leader of the group, P-Goon said, “It’s so good to have received so much love from somewhere far from home and thanks for coming down!” B.Joo added, “It is definitely very clean here and the warm weather is welcoming and nice”, showing their gratitude to Singapore fans.
After their introduction, KiDoh serenaded the fans with a romantic song which he composed, titled, “너 같은 여자 (A Girl Like You)”. His solo performance got the fans to sway along to his smooth vocals as well as his charismatic rapping. The talented performer definitely moved the fans with his sweet charms.
The rest of the members then came back out onto the stage again for a game of charades with 4 lucky fans. ToppDogg members were split into two groups and stood in a straight line to play a modified version of charades. They were then divided according to their dorm arrangements. The first group (Group A) to start off the game consisted of P.Goon, KiDoh, HoJoon, SeoGoong, Xero and A.Tom with two of the lucky fans. P.Goon, being the first member in the line, did Girl’s generation’s famous shuttle kick dance for the song, “Genie(소원을말해봐)”. The dance was hilariously misinterpreted by HoJoon which made A.Tom guess their clue wrongly. Group A were also given ‘Little Mermaid’ where members of the group laid on the stage to impersonate a mermaid.
Despite their clumsiness, Group A managed to win against Group B which consisted of Gohn, Hansol, Nakta, Yano, SangDo and Jenissi together with another pair of lucky fans. The members also had to act out ‘EXO’, ‘Rhinoceros’, ‘Ice Cream’ and ‘Model’.
After charades, two other fans were given the chance to play against a ToppDogg member of their choice. The game played, required the players to stick post-it notes on their opponent and they are to shake off all the post-it notes within a minute. Yano and KiDoh were chosen by their fans. The audience was filled with envy when Yano politely asked his opponent whether he could place the post-it on her. Yano lost the game to KiDoh.
After the games, members Hansol, Xero, HoJoon and B.Joo heated up the stage once again with a powerful and charismatic dance. Their performance was packed with impressive energy and crisp moves. ToppDogg also performed their recent song, “Cigarette”. It was the groups’ first live performance of the song ever since it’s release. The song was composed and written by members, Gohn and KiDoh, perfectly showcasing the various charms of each member.
The members then took a short break to talk to the fans. The MC asked ToppDogg what are the advantages and disadvantages in being part of a 13-member group. P.Goon explained that it is good that they are able to experiment with the different dynamics of the members but going out to eat is quite difficult. They also expressed that being in a big group meant that they will never be bored. They were also asked about their future plans and goals for the year 2014. P.Goon revealed that their second mini-album is coming out soon on January 16th and they will be performing in their sub-unit groups as well. KiDoh mentioned that he would like to film a CF (Commercial film) in Singapore while Yano wishes to release a solo album. ToppDogg then performed “귀여운 걸 (Cute Girl)” and ended the meeting with an encore performance of “말로해 (Follow Me)”.
The showcase was shortly followed by a Hi-Touch, photography and fan sign session. Fans got the opportunity to Hi-five with each member along with taking photos with them. From great performances to excellent fan service, ToppDogg was able to create lovely memories to kick off 2014 with Singaporean ToppKlass who attended the showcase.
We would like to thank East Entertainment for giving us the opportunity to attend this event.
