Just over a year after their official debut, YOUNG POSSE embarked on their first U.S. tour. With their debut “Macaroni Cheese” concept and recent “Ate That” comeback, and the group’s desire to grow even more, the tour was suitably titled the The Hungry Tour. Though the tour started mid-October, the group made a valiant effort to see as many fans in the states as possible, making multiple stops across both coasts to finish up mid-November. As the first November stop, the five girls made their way to Los Angeles, performing a nearly sold out show at the historic Palace Theatre in the Arts District.
The show began promptly at 7pm as the lights dimmed and flickered and each member walked on stage, one at a time. Sunhye, Yeonjung, Jiana, Doeun, and Jieun kicked off their setlist with “POSSE UP!,” “Loading…,” and “ROTY” — three songs that emphasized the group’s eager to desire and hunger to excel in their craft. Taking a quick pause to introduce themselves to the crowd, the five young girls then moved on quickly to the next song. “Bananas” featured choreography made by the members themselves, and while the previous trio of songs showed off the group’s cool, chic charms, this track was cuter, showing a different side to the group. “XXL” was next, accompanied by loud cheers and synchronized choreography. Wanting to showcase all different sides to their talent, the group also prepared solo stages, performing covers of songs such as Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi,” YENA and BIBI’s “SMILEY,” Bruno Mars’ “Finesse,” CL’s “LIFTED,” and Måneskin’s “Beggin’.”
Diving into more of their songs, such as “ATE THAT,” the group also prepared a short Q&A session to answer fan questions. The group shared that they enjoyed IN N OUT for lunch, danced to ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT” and JENNIE’s “Mantra,” and more. After the Q&A, the group showed off yet another side of them with a trio of slower songs to demonstrate their vocal abilities. The group sang “Skyline,” “Umbrella,” and “Sure Thing” by Miguel. Finishing off the show, the group also performed an encore with songs such as “XXL” and “Macaroni Cheese.”
Not only did YOUNG POSSE spend their time wisely by showcasing all the different aspects of their talent — their synchronized dancing, their stable vocals, their smooth and powerful rap flows, and their stage presence that surpasses what one would expect from a rookie group — they also spent their time showing their utmost gratitude for their fans. Taking phones from the audience members, jumping down into the crowd to walk up and down the aisles, and even taking special care to greet fans in ADA sections, the group showed their humility and kindness alongside their talents, making for an unforgettable night. Despite the rainy weather outside, YOUNG POSSE brought the heat and left fans feeling warm and eager to see them once more.
Special thank you to YOUNG POSSE and team for allowing Officially Kmusic to attend! Make sure you check out all photos from the show on our Facebook page now. The group also sat down to answer some questions for us; make sure to see what they said here!
