The wait is over as we finally have a comeback from K.Will with his new music video ‘Growing‘. The track is off of K.Will’s 6th mini album titled ‘RE‘.
From the opening lines there was no surprise as to what kind of song we were going to get. Thanks to the teaser we learned that that K.Will would be sticking to what he does best, and that is the power ballad. And the emotional journey of a love gained in lost. The song opens with the following lines:
‘Our love that began in spring.
Came to an end in spring.
She said goodbye one April Fools
I thought she was kidding.’
As standard for K.Will, he does not appear in his own music video, citing some rubbish about he doesn’t think he is “good looking enough” to. Opting again for the use of actor and actress, this time selecting Son Ho Jun (Replay 1994) and Park Ha Sun (Two Weeks) to play the romantic leads.
K.Will is taking a different approach with this music video. Normally this time of year, we see an abundance of longing in love ballad. This song is about the other side of that feeling; loss. Not only is our leading male feeling the pain and loss but so is his trusty K9 companion.
I am one of those that feels the talent of K.Will is often over-looked and under-appreciated by the international fans, despite having a strong and loyal fan base. How else could he sing ballads and love songs most of the time, not appear in videos and still survive in a world where “sex sells.”
