There is just no pleasing the censors of the KBS Broadcast, as of August 6th fourteen of the latest singles have met the cut and have been banned by the broadcast.
After review of numerous songs in terms of its preferences JYJ’s title track “Back Seat” from their 2nd album, Hyuna’s “A Talk,” “Blacklist,” and “French Kiss” from her 3rd EP, and HA:TFELT’s (Yenny of Wonder Girls) “Bond”, Unchained’s “Paris” and “고자질,” as well as Rose Garden’s “Not My Style,” from her debut EP were among the 14 songs to be disapproved for questionable lyrics.
KBS revealed why they made such decision. According to the company,JYJ’s lyrics “Put you on back seat” from their title track “Back Seat” and the line “Do it” from Hyuna’s “French Kiss,” are inappropriate due to its sexual context as it associates an affair between two lovers. Hyuna’s “Blacklist” was banned for its vulgarity and HA:TFELT’s “Bond” was deemed unsuitable for broadcasting due to the use of English profanity, “god damn.” As for Unchained’s “Paris” and “고자질,” and Rose Garden’s “Not My Style,” KBS claimed that the lyrics promote civil disobedience among youth.
These are just the few songs chosen that have met the hammer of KBS censorship. What do you think of KBS banning these songs?
