On September 27th, SHINEE‘s KEY released the music video to his latest title track, ‘BAD LOVE’. The song comes off the singer’s 1st solo mini album of the same name. Containing 8 tracks, they include the pre-release duet track, ‘Hate That…’ featuring Girl’s Generation‘s TAEYEON. Debuting in the SM Entertainment group back in 2008, the male vocalist went straight to dropping his 1st full album, ‘Face’ in 2018. This followed along with a repackage in 2019, ‘I Wanna Be’. Taking a break in music to serve his compulsory term in the South Korean military, he has now returned with this 1st EP.
Lyrically, the title track describes the sourness in a relationship that ultimately consumes one’s regretful decision to love. Brimming with synths, the powerful instrumental is a wall of sound. The raging instrumental reaches its peak in the chorus. But, the vocals hit harder and higher to punch through and create a beautiful synergy between the instrumental and human voice. The artist himself participated in forming ideas on the concept of this release, hence creating something he would uniquely shine in.

KEY ‘BAD LOVE’ MV:
Introducing the music video, we see the singer sitting on a lone couch in a living room solely lit by a box TV. Watching the screen, it flickers until it settles on a stage. The vocalist wearing a loosely fitted bold red attire with street sneakers. Stage wise, disco balls hang from the ceiling as bright yellow lighting highlights from the back. The main parts of the choreography look grand with fluid movements on the podium as he gets supported by backup dancers on the ground. Other scenes in the MV, hark back to the video from his earlier duet, ‘Hate That…’ with its galactical theme. We see him flying in a spaceship aiming at planets, as well as potentially getting shot down. The video ends as it pans back out from the TV, to see the vocalist fall asleep.
KEY‘s 1st mini album, ‘BAD LOVE’ featuring the identically named title track is available now!
