On August 11th, quintet SKARF returned to Singapore for their first ever showcase, ‘Dreams Come True,’ which was held at the Kallang Theatre. The talented girl group, consisting of Tasha, Ferlyn, Jenny, JooA and Hana, entertained and interacted with fans throughout their one- hour- and – a -half showcase. Fans all the way from Myanmar and Thailand came to see the girls in action.
The audience cheered as SKARF kick started their performance with their new title track ‘Luv Virus.’ They then followed up with their debut song ‘Oh! Dance!’ and got everyone in the theater singing along with them. Having ended the song, the girls then did their self introduction starting from new member Hana. “Hi Everyone! I’m Hana! I miss you guys!” The other members briefly introduced themselves and leader Tasha said, “Thank you everyone for coming to our first showcase.” After their self introductions, SKARF continued their performance with two more songs titled ‘Bye, Bye, Bye’ and ‘Sunny Day’ from their latest album. Ferlyn played the guitar while the group performed an acoustic version of the song showcasing them harmonizing as a group. ‘Sunny Day’ centered around a new couple going on their first date. Fans waved their hands in the air following the lighthearted song.
SKARF then took a short break and came back to surprise fans with 3 special stages. Tasha paired up with Ferlyn for a powerful dance number while maknae Jenny and Hana danced to Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’ finishing off their item with PSY’s ‘Gentleman.’ Fans cheered loudly when Hana and Jenny pulled off their cutesy dresses to reveal sexier outfits. JooA awed the audience with her vocal abilities when she pulled off a difficult English song effortlessly.
Having ended their special stages, SKARF prepared games to be played with their beloved fans. The first game was rock, paper, scissors and the lucky winner was presented a chance to take a photo with the group.
With Hana’s birthday coming up on 18th August, SKARF’s Singapore fan-base prepared a special surprise for her. They came on stage and presented Hana a birthday cake while everyone in the theater sang her a birthday song in both English and Korean. Hana teared up as she was really touched by the gesture.
Next up was the True or False game. Fans were asked questions about SKARF and 5 fans who answered most of the questions correctly were then invited on stage to feed SKARF with bakwa ! They were then told that they will have a dance off with the group. The members taught the 5 lucky fans some dance steps and the fan who danced the best got her photo taken with all of the members.
The showcase continued with the girls performing ‘My Turn.’ Unaware of the next surprise that was prepared for them, the girls were out of words when a huge cake was being pushed out from the backstage. The crowd once again sang SKARF a birthday song to commemorate their 1 year anniversary which falls on August 14th. The girls made their wishes and blew out the candle together. They gathered themselves and thanked their family, friends and fans who have been supporting them throughout their long journey. Ferlyn got teary eyed and fans started to chant “uljima! uljima! uljima!” (don’t cry in Korean)
They carried on their performance with Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone‘ and ended with their last song ‘My Love.’ Fans chanted for an encore performance and not long after, the girls came on stage with explosive dance solos that sent thundering cheers across the theater ending their first ever showcase in Singapore on a high.
All in all, SKARF’s first showcase was an enjoyable and definitely a memorable one. Last but not least, we would like to thank Alpha Entertainment for inviting us to this event.
