Drew (Andrew) Ryan Scott, an American singer, song-writer, and vocal producer was born on June 17th 1989 in Lafayette, Louisiana, grew up in Houston, Texas, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He grew up with music since a young age, his parents were part of a church choir and took him around the U.S to hear them sing in front of him.
Drew made his first big step in his song-writing career after winning numerous songs for his band Varsity Fanclub and has stated he was soon able to write for others.
“The first song I ever sang was ‘Ben‘ by Michael Jackson, I could literally sound just like him. One day my parents snuck the neighbors in and they all listened outside my bedroom door. When the song ended my door opened and everyone clapped and cheered! I was mortified.”- he stated. “I guess that was my first taste of it all.”
Drew composed and performed his first song at age 6. He had his first major song placement on former Bad Boy recording artist Donnie Klang‘s first studio album ‘Just A Rolling Stone‘ released in late 2008 with title track ‘Pick It Up‘ which he co-wrote. Since then Scott has written numerous songs for many popular music acts and has been described as “an extremely talented top line writer”.
You wonder what association he has with K-Pop? Well, Drew was one of the people behind the scenes who is responsible for one of the biggest K-Pop hits such as Girls’ Generation‘s ‘Boy Scout‘, ‘Baby Steps‘, Super Junior‘s ‘Sorry Sorry‘, EXO‘s ‘XoXo‘, SHINee‘s ‘Amigo‘, ‘Breaking News‘, ‘Dazzling Girl‘, and TVXQ‘s ‘Superstar‘, to name a few.
Not just K-Pop, but J-Pop too, he worked with Arashi (new song coming out this week), KAT-TUN, KIS-My-Ft2, Sexy Zone, J Soul Brothers, and more.
He joined After Romeo, an American pop band as the group’s main songwriter and producer. He wanted to tell his musical stories to all the Bromeos+Juliets.
The band recently released their single and video for ‘Where The People Go‘, you can listen to it right here!
