100 days to go… 75 days to go… 25 days to go… 5 days to go… 4…3…2…1!!! BOOM! The day that all Filipino K-pop fans were waiting for, the most anticipated biggest K-pop event in the Philippines had finally arrived – DREAM K-POP FANTASY CONCERT!!!
The Dream K-Pop Fantasy Concert was held on January 19th at the SM Mall of Asia, Pasay, Philippines. Fans surely would do anything for their idols because they were waiting outside the venue as early as 7am! They also prepared some food and brought it with them so they don’t feel hungry during the concert. To kill some time they took pictures with their friends and some also took selcas. A lot of them brought light sticks for their favorite group to cheer on and some other “Fanraphernalia”. Quite a lot of fans wore their favorite fandom shirt! I also saw some practicing fanchants to shout out during the concert.
I really felt the excitement of the fans just by watching them. They were so energetic and many were spazzing non-stop with other fans too. Noon had passed and it was extremely hot, but the fans didn’t bother with the hot weather, they continued to wait in line under the heat of the sun. I could tell by the looks of it that if it were to rain, they would have just stayed put in their places so that no one can take their spot. Anything for K-Pop, right?
The time had finally arrived! The concert was finally about to begin! Before they gave the stage to the first K-Pop group, there were a few opening acts including Mike Chan and his band friends. They sang 5 songs in total. The band made everyone go crazy! They were also interacting with the crowd and making them sing along with them. Afterwards, the 20 winners from the DKFC dance battle danced to a lot of songs and kpop remixes like TVXQ’s “Mirotic”, SHINee’s “Lucifer”, Infinite’s “Come Back Again”, SNSD’s “The Boys”, Tahiti’s “Hasta Luego”, U-Kiss’ “Stop Girl”, EXO’s “Two Moons”, Tasty’s “You Know Me”, Super Junior’s “Bonamana” and 2PM’s “Hands Up”.
Those were just the appetizers only to be followed by the main dish! The first group we welcomed to the stage was INFINITE!
The songs they performed were “The Chaser”, “Paradise”, “In The Summer”, “Before The Dawn”, “Be Mine” and “Nothing’s Over”. They wore all white and were melting us with their hotness even though they were sweating. There were some malfunction to the sound system but the members managed to pull it off by joking around and Hoya even said, “sorry, sorry” in a cute manner. Dongwoo also said, “I’m so sorry” in an accent that was just so cute that you couldn’t help but laugh. During their small interview Hoya and Dongwoo who are under the sub-unit INFINITE H, showed a little bit of the dance moves from their song “Special Girl” which amazed the fans and left them wanting more.
There were quite a few fanservices too! Woohyun kept on giving heart shapes to the fans while showing off his cute smile and Myungsoo got close to the camera, pulled off a smirk which almost killed some Inspirits (well, not literally). He and Woohyun then took some phones of the fans and took pictures with them! Wow! They’re so lucky! Towards the end of their performance we could see that Dongwoo and Woohyun were the only members who were hyper which caused people to scream from their cuteness!
Next was Tasty, same as Infinite, they are under Woollim Entertainment. To those who don’t know (but I’m sure most of you guys already know) they are twins. The Tasty twins were super duper fun to be with and they kept everyone entertained! They were like kids that just wanted to play around. Before they performed their famous song “You Know Me”, they had an intro which was so cool that many were left in awe after watching their performance! They also performed “Solo” which is a song from their debut album. It wasn’t just Infinite that got some little malfunctions with the sound system, but Tasty experienced some technical difficulties as well. One of the twins said, “I’m sorry we’re so late,” but the Filipino fans cheered them by shouting “Tasty” a lot of times.
During their small interview, the MC asked, “There’s a rumor that you do your own choreo, is that true?” to which So Ryong replied wittily, “Actually that’s not a rumor”, and the crowd laughed leading the MC to ask, “Oh. So you really did your own choreo?” and the twins answered, “Yes. We do.” They were such cute individuals and they couldn’t help but keep on moving around. The MC than continued to ask what is their favorite Filipino food was to which they answered “Halo-halo“! Halo-halo is not a food, it’s a dessert! They also did a Michael Jackson dance without music! Yup! You read it right, without music and still they pulled it off so professionally!
After Tasty was U-Kiss! They performed six songs in total which were “Bingeul Bingeul”, “Stop Girl”, “Believe”, “Someday”, “Shut Up” and “Man Man Ha Ni”. Some members were wearing black while the others were in white. They really looked handsome, and since I was so close to them I could tell that all of them, especially Kevin, had such smooth skin. Even Kiseop was very very handsome! He almost killed me on the spot; I really couldn’t take my eyes off of him! He even threw a smirk my direction! Other members as well were waving back to the crowd, touching the hands of some lucky fans and winking at them too.
When they were interviewed, they said that every time they go to the Philippines, the fans are so ‘amazing, truly amazing’. January 17th was Kiseop’s birthday, and so they surprised him with a birthday cake just for Kiseop and the whole crowd sang a Birthday song for him. After that, Kiseop blew out the candle, and the members had a group hug which touched the hearts of all the fans. Kiseop was so cute and I’m so sure that he almost cried (You could tell from his expression on the big LED monitor).
The next group to perform after U-Kiss was Tahiti. They performed their two songs, “Hasta Luego” and “Tonight” they also covered some songs like “If You Wanna Be My Lover” by the Spice Girls and they sang and danced to “Gangnam Style”, Hyuna’s version. They were wearing beautiful and shiny black dresses; all of their dresses were sleeveless. They really gave off a powerful dance, and they had a lot of fanboys!
Even though they’re not as well known as the other groups, the crowd still cheered them on! The girls also showed a lot of aegyo which was kind of a bonus treat to the audience. They were roaming all over the stage and were throwing posters of themselves to the crown and candies too. There’s even one fan who gave a letter to one member and she really cried when she was done reading the letter, I’m sure she was touched by the content of that letter. The girls were so pretty and beautiful. Having them in the concert was also a great opportunity for us fans to get to know them better.
The second to last performers, and this group is what the crowd was waiting for….yes it was EXO! I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who was happy that all of them were here, so happy that OT12 were there making the fans go wild and crazy. When I was taking a video of their first song, I almost dropped my tablet because of Kris (he’s my bias)! He was really glowing and yes, I can say that Kris is just so perfect! In their other performances I was having a hard time getting a video because they were roaming all over the stage. I was just glad that when they performed the song “Two Moons”, he was directly in front of me. His English was also just WOW! Really daebak!
They performed a total of 7 songs, and those were “Mama”, “What is Love”, “Angel”, “Two Moons”, “Open Arms”, “Hawak Kamay” and “History”. They were wearing such gorgeous, colorful and shining shimmering clothes! Outfits that really let you know that you were looking at EXO!
Two of their songs were covers; they sang “Open Arms” by Journey and a Filipino song “Hawak Kamay” by Yeng Constantino. At first, fans were shocked when they heard the news that EXO would be singing a Filipino song but gosh, we were taken aback by surprise when they sung the song perfectly! Fans even sang along with them! During the song, the members of EXO were giving roses and candies to lucky audience members and those lucky individuals who got the roses were probably so happy!
Fans were truly amazed by how they could pull off a Filipino song. Filipino fans were so proud of them for singing it! During the interview, the MC told them that they may surpass Super Junior and TVXQ. The MC also mentioned that they love SM groups, then Kris heard a fan saying “SMTOWN”, he said it too and the rest of the crowd began shouting “SMTOWN”!
In their last song, “History”, they really gave such a breath taking performance, giving it their all! They were flashing cute smirks and smiles while performing! Loud screams were heard, and you could see in some fancams that the fans are running around the area where they were assigned.
The last but definitely not the least group to perform was Girls’ Generation!
The fans, especially Sones, were really screaming loudly even before the members were on stage, and when the song began to play, BOOM! The screams became louder and louder! Fan-chants could be clearly heard and I’m sure even the girls of Girls’ Generation heard it!
They really looked like dolls in person, they were so pretty and beautiful, plus their smiles could melt the hearts of anyone!
It was their first time in the Philippines and they were very happy to be here too. The members had read a banner that said “We thought you’d never come”, which touched the girls deeply.
They performed 6 songs in total, and they were “Genie”, “The Boys”, “Hoot”, “Dancing Queen”, “Gee” and “I Got A Boy.”
During the performance of “Genie”, instead of saying “DJ, put it back on”, Tiffany said, “Philippines, put it back on” and the crowd once again shouted! During their last song, “I Got A Boy”, some fans began dancing to the song! The song is really addictive, I even sang some lines of it!
It was a night to remember! I’m sure fans who had attended the concert are still reminiscing the events that took place. Even I can say I am still in awe. Just thinking of all the things that happened that night was truly mesmerizing. Dreams really do come true~ 🙂
I thank all the people that where behind this wonderful and amazing production that brought out a lot of amazing k-pop artists, which in turn brought a lot happiness and overwhelming memories to K-Pop fans to treasure forever!
