If we talk about Yim Jae Bum, we imediately think of one of his most popular songs, “For You.” Especially for KMusic Male Soloist Week, we prepared a behind the scenes story of this beautiful song.
Not many people know that “For You,” which was released by Yim Jae Bum in 2000, was actually a cover of the song “Seeing Off Love” released three years earlier, in 1997, by Esther, a member of the now-disbanded group Sohodae. The original lyrics were written by Choe Wonsuk, a vocal trainer for YG Entertainment‘s singers, such as BIGBANG and 2NE1.
Shin Jaehong who composed this song, teamed up with lyricist Chae Jung Eun, who wrote the new lyrics, and than gave this song to Yim Jae Bum.
Even though the song was not promoted, whatsoever, it became a mega hit – something, unfortunatly, Esther could not achieve with her solo album. It came about because “For You” was featured on the OST for the 2000 Korean movie “Dittoo”.
Since then, the song has been performed by various Korean artists, including Lee Hi, JYJ’s Jaejoong, Jung Joon Young, Lee Young Hyun, Hwanhee, Se7en, MBLAQ‘s GO and more.
