2012 is drawing to an end and with that KMUSIC is recapping on the amazing year of debuts, comebacks, songs and music videos.
Out off all the MVs revealed this year, the KMUSIC admins have narrowed it down to a select 12 in honor of the end of the 2012 year.
Enjoy our top 12 MVs below! (in no particular order)
EXO – MAMA
Even though every SM fan hates those constant and irremovable ads, EXO’s MAMA stunned us all.
For a debut, it had some of the best effects and lighting out of many MVs. We enjoyed the many cuts of all 12 members throughout both EXO-K and EXO-M’s video.
Along with the fact that the MV made a lot of sense with the song itself was great. This 12 member rookie group definitely showed off their stuff through the choreography and vocals, both rapping and singing.
We are still anxiously awaiting their comeback that has been pushed back and still hasn’t happened. SM, we’re waiting for EXO’s comeback! Hopefully though, it will be very soon.
TVXQ – Catch Me
TVXQ‘s Catch Me is being called the best song of the year by many fans, and of course it’s in our top 12 MV’s. ‘Nuf said’.
The effects in this MV are amazing like MAMA, but better in their own way. Or as one of the admins said, “They are daebak” and they are haha!
Everything about this video is spectacular; the special effects, complicated choreography with the 6 background dancers. Especially that move with their arms, totally trippy.
The clothes, I have to admit, I thought they were odd, but I’ve grown to love them. They have a really cool look that fits the MV and the type of music.
The vocals are better than amazing, all the high notes and singing are some of the best from TVXQ.
G-Dragon – Crayon
‘Get your crayon! Hehehe.’
This crazy and colorful MV makes us get our crayon. G-Dragon is funny and cute in this MV, it’s super colorful, and really easy to follow. Making it easy for new GD fans to follow as well.
Plus, who doesn’t want to see G-Dragon driving around in a little yellow toy car, strutting his stuff, dancing around and asking us ‘Why so serious?’.
This hip hop song is one of the best this year. ‘C’mon girls, c’mon boys.’
U-KISS – Stop Girl
Aside from the fact that this is U-KISS and it’s awesome, this song is just too catchy. “Stop girl, in the name of love~.”
The two, Black & White and Color versions of this MV give the viewer the option to choose between the amazing videos.
The choreography is amazing and the soft vocals made it a very touching song. Plus, there’s an English version that makes it easier for English speaking viewers to understand.
A great comeback for U-KISS overall.
BIGBANG – Bad Boy
“I’m sorry I’m a bad boy.”
BIGBANG, it’s okay, we love you anyway. BIGBANG has their comeback with the album “Still Alive” and ‘Bad Boy’ was one of the many tracks on that album.
Along with ‘Fantastic Baby’(Very closely tied with this song to make our top 12),‘Blues’ and ‘Monster’. This song has a soft piano background, GD‘s and T.O.P’s rapping along with the vocals of Daesung, Taeyang and Seungri, which work perfectly.
The MV was shot in New York, USA and gives it a great feel with the concept of the song. We were very impressed with this song and its MV.
2NE1 – I Love You
The labelmates of Big Bang – 2NE1, are on our list!
Their comeback titled, “I Love You” was highly anticipated, and the girls went through drastic changes in preparation for their comeback.
Example…Dara shaved half her head, which shocked and upset many fans (Personally, I think she rocks the style).
Even though there is little dancing in this video, the locations, clothes and effects made up for that.
We enjoyed the solo time made for each of the 4 members and the group shots.
YOSEOB – Caffeine
Yoseob of B2ST had his solo debut this year with ‘Caffeine’.
This ballad type song leaves nothing to be desired. Yoseob’s mature concept in this MV made his solo debut amazing.
The choreography is really interesting, the lyrics match up with the events in the MV really well and fits the concept.
His clothing is very odd and unique, along with the cool special effects towards the end. ‘You’re bad to me, so bad to me, oh girl you like caffeine. ”
We expect more great things from Yoseob very soon.
K.WILL – Please Don’t
“How can you not choose this!”, one of our staff said. This MV is by far one of my favorites!
The story that occurs throughout the entire MV is like a movie and makes the song crystal clear in message.
I think he likes his friend, but tries to convince himself that the one he likes is the girl. Sort of like a denial stage. But in the end even he can’t deny it and realizes that he likes his friend.
It’s such a emotional and touching song that you find yourself watching it on repeat over and over again.
Xiah – Tarantallegra
At first, this video seems very weird, but once you watch it for the 3rd time, it gets more and more meaningful, then you want to watch it all the time.
He decided to use foreign dancers which was really unique and a big plus.
The music and the choreography are epic in themselves. I really can’t put this MV into words….just watch it, okay?
B.A.P – No Mercy
Rookie group B.A.P debuted earlier this year and have already done 6 promotions.
They debuted with ‘Warrior’, came back with ‘Power’, next was ‘No Mercy‘, then the repackaged ‘Crash’ and finally was ‘Stop It‘.
B.A.P stunned everyone with the powerful vocals and rapping and incredibly impressive choreography in each MV.
We chose this MV out of them all because of the sexy appeal through the dance moves (that crotch grab is hot), and the styles of clothing worn by the members.
It was a tough choice for me especially being a huge BABY and loving every one of their songs.
NU’EST – Action
NU’EST, yet another 2012 rookie group has made the top 12.
NU’EST debuted after B.A.P but before EXO, and is one of the top 5 rookies this year. The five member boy group debuted with the hit ‘Face’ and ‘Action’ was their comeback track.
They have amazing singing and dancing skills. The effects and locations in the MV are really cool, and the use of the dubstep break was very impressive. The song itself worked well with the MV, a good job on Pledis’ part.
C-CLOWN – Because You Might Grow Distant
This incredibly addictive song is the last on our list.
Many of the comments on YouTube are: “The best mv for year 2012… really. I hope C Clown get award for best and meaningful mv. The more i watch, the more and crazy i cried…”.
I think this sums up the entire reason why we put this on our list!
It’s one of the most meaningful MV’s of the year and has a great story-line.
I hope you enjoyed our list of the top 12 MVs of 2012! This was such a hard list to compile, I still can’t get over all the amazing MVs that have come out this year and what amazing comebacks we hope to see in 2013.
Did you agree with our list? Disagree? If so, what songs do you think should have made the list? Let us know!
We wish you a happy holidays from KMUSIC!
