Nearly eight months of absence have certainly left fans very thirsty for MYNAME. Well they can now quench their thirst with the release of their new single “Just That Little Thing”!
The feel of the song protrudes outwards as soon as the song starts. It’s sort of a funky Dance Pop track that utilizes a variety of synthesized beats and sounds. There’s also this siren like noise present throughout the track. Hearing it makes me think of that white screen with the never ending spinning spiral, forever turning so that viewers will be locked and entranced in a hypnotic state. Unfortunately, instead of getting me hooked on this song, the siren’s unstopping wail just ended up annoying me. Thankfully, the members’ voices and choreography made up for that tragedy; they never cease to amaze me with their vocal and dancing capabilities. However, the overall arrangement of the song was just average. There was nothing particularly special about it. Even the lyrics don’t amount to much, they didn’t contain anything that would arouse emotion or pull in listeners. It breaks my heart to say that “Just That Little Thing” is probably the weakest promotional single MYNAME has put out.
I did like the music video though. The quality was outstanding and the filming was superb. The most memorable part of the video was during the climax of the song. Each member was filmed screaming while everything around them shattered and exploded. This scene captured the conflicting emotions of the phrase ‘just that little thing’ perfectly. This is because despite all of the damage that has been done upon the receiver’s heart and soul, that little thing called love is reeling him back to her and all of the pain she has in store for him. Therefore, it visually shows the audience how frustrating it is to love and yet still long to leave the relationship.
