U-KISS is finally back with a new digtal single called “Cinderella.” Strangely enough, this song was only released digitally, having no association with their upcoming album “Stop Girl.”
The song comprises of many analog synthesizer features, creating a dance track that offers complex electronic sounds. With the musical stream adverting to house, rave, dubstep and other electronic styles nowadays, Cinderella will certainly do very well. It will probably fit into the club atmosphere without a problem because the song is easy to dance to.
Many fans posted comments like, “I’ve had it on replay since it came out!” while others say “I don’t like the autotune, Ukiss is better off singing ballads.”
The lyrics, on the other hand, are a little disappointing. The song’s voice is expressing anguish and agony; talking of how much he wants to end the relationship he has with his girlfriend because she doesn’t treat him right, but he can’t bring himself to do it. Still, what does that have to do with Cinderella? Is he saying that he wants his girlfriend to be as kind and docile as Cinderella, that he’s trying his best to be Prince Charming but his girlfriend doesn’t fit into the Cinderella caricature? Therefore, he’s pleading for her to be his Cinderella, to transform herself for him?
Perhaps this could be the case but they could have used any name and the song could have still come out well. I feel that they randomly used the name of a fairy tale princess just because it is well known to the public and will attract a wider audience. I understand the song is about a spiteful love that is hard to let go of even though it is necessary to do so, but whoever wrote the lyrics could’ve done a better job.
Either way, the music itself is still well composed so that factor can make up for it. Take a listen for yourself and tell us what you think!
