ZE:A’s new single “Phoenix” has finally been released in both Korea and Japan! Like a phoenix indeed, the old ZE:A has burned up and finally came soaring from the ashes with a song worth listening to more than once. According to netizens, this is the first single since “All Day Long” that has the capability to keep the audience from wandering off.
Prior to this song, the image that ZE:A was trying to promote was young, fresh, and cute. Though the members are appealing and lively like the notable Kwanghee, Siwan, and Dongjun, images was not enough to help them win any awards or recognition. Their previous singles have all been just ‘alright’ and ‘nothing special;’ most of them were forgettable.
“Phoenix,” on the other hand, is assembled in a way that leaves fans coming for more. Its catchy beats encourage people to dance; one can’t help but move, sway, and bop their heads along with the tune. Although the music video production lacks creativity and can use a bit of work, it is simple and mainly focuses on the members’ performance, therefore, it’s doable.
Their magnetic choreography and vocals have also improved tremendously, pulling people in to watch. Kevin, the lead vocalist of the group, has also finally been put in the spotlight and amen to that because the man has got a voice! These bright combinations landed “Phoenix” on top music charts for the first time since their debut. They ranked second place on the Oricon Charts and even took the number one spot on Bug’s real time chart!
Compared to their earlier release, “Phoenix” has brought ZE:A a long way. It has gained them many new fans while the ever so loyal ZE:A’S were exclaiming left and right, “This song is really awesome!” and “Loving ZE:A and the new MV <3.”
These boys definitely have the ability to enhance as artists; they just need the right tools to get them to a better place. A few more tune ups from within their company will do the trick; maybe new and better stylists, producers, choreographers, a bigger budget? Whatever the case, take a look at ZE:A’s “Phoenix” MV and see for yourself at what they’ve achieved with their firebird.
