KMUSIC picks the top songs for 2012!

So many great K-pop songs came out this year that it was hard to choose only twelve. Many factors were used to determine the top 12 including Youtube views, Billboard, and Naver positions on the charts and the amount of time the singles spent on the charts.

12. BAP – No Mercy
BAP is a great rookie group that really stood out this year especially with their debut single. Coming in at #12 with 2,840,011 Youtube views.

11. BTOB – Wow
BTOB’s Wow is a very catchy dance song! Coming in at #11 with 2,998,585 Youtube views.

10. Ailee – Heaven
The solo artist, Ailee, made her debut with this single. Coming in at #10 with 4,906,440 Youtube views.

9. T-ara – Lovey Dovey
The female group, T-ara, made this single an ultimate hit that made many people around the world start shuffling… I know I did! Coming in at #9 with 8,971,792 Youtube views.

8. TVXQ – Catch Me
The “Kings of Kpop” made their 2012 comeback with this single. It is a very catchy single. Love the dubstep elements. Coming in at #8 with 10,106,943 Youtube views.

7. BoA – Only One
The “Queen of Kpop” made her 2012 comeback with this single. It is a great upbeat love song with an amazing dance to go with it. Coming at #7 with 10,250,864 Youtube views.

6. Beast – Beautiful Night
The male group, Beast, made their 2012 comeback with their “Midnight Sun” album and “Beautiful Night” was the lead single from the album. Great upbeat dance song! Coming in at #6 with 13,537,568 Youtube views.

5. SISTAR – Alone
The female group, SISTAR, comes in at #5 with their 2012 comeback single, Alone. This single had a sexy concept that SISTAR definitely pulled off. With 14,914,786 Youtube views, here is your #5!

4. G-Dragon – Crayon
GD’s “Crayon” has a very fun concept to the song. It is very upbeat and just puts you in a great mood. Coming in at #4 with 16,345,867 Youtube views is everyone’s favorite Big Bang leader!

3. Big Bang – Blue
Big Bang made their 2012 comeback releasing quite a few singles at once: “Fantastic Baby”, “Bad Boy” and this single, “Blue.” “Blue” is a great ballad that really shows Big Bang’s true vocal ranges. They are mainly known for their dance songs and well, not ballads. Coming in at #3 with 32,109,882 Youtube views… for all the VIPs!

2. Girl’s Generation – TTS – Twinkle
To no surprise in the K-pop World, Girl’s Generation, is becoming more of a household name dominating the K-pop charts, so it would only seem normal that a sub-unit of Girl’s Genration, TaeTiSeo, would be rising to the top as well. “Twinkle” was the first song released from the trio (Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun) which has a “Lady Marmalade” Burlesque type theme. At #2 with 32,390,477 Youtube views, for all the Sones, it’s the Twinkle, Twinkle!

The #1 should not come as a surprise to all Kpop fans. This song has become a world domination and everyone is doing “Gangnam Style”. PSY has made his single well known between all the parodies; Glee‘s version of Gangnam Style, and everyone is dancing to it, this song was made to be a hit especially being the most viewed MV on Youtube ever thanks to the Guinness Book of World Records! So at #1 with 988,980,056 Youtube views its “Gangnam Style”!
