The staff and artists of JYP Entertainment‘s Seoul headquarters must be very shaken up today. Thursday the police were called to the building after a 34 year old man, who is only being identified by police by his last name, Choi, managed to make it all the way to the third floor.
The man gained entrance to the building by apparently following directly behind an employee as they passed the first floor security check. He than proceeded to avoid all attempts by employees to stop his advance into the building by threatening them with a 30 centimeter kitchen knife. He than demanded a meeting with the CEO of the company, Park Jin-young.
A secretary at the company bravely denied Choi’s demands and Choi than reportedly threw the knife into the recording room, no one was injured. The incident was able to be concluded safely as police arrived within 10 minuets of the confrontation.
Upon questioning on his motives for the trespass and threats, Choi informed police he had applied for a job two years ago and was venting his anger at the CEO for not contacting him.
He reportedly told the police “I sent in an application to enter JYP Entertainment two years ago, yet I didn’t receive any response or meet with Park ― therefore, I decided to come myself.”
JYP is one of the “Big 3” entertainment companies in Korea and is home to such artists as Miss A, 2PM, 2AM, and GOT7.
It has not been revealed at this time if any of the artists were in the building at the time of the attack or involved in anyway. Stay tuned to Officially KMusic as we follow this breaking news.
