YG Stans will tell you, one way or another “Papa YG,” aka Yang Hyun Suk, knows whats best for his artists, but his artists don’t always agree with him. If you have doubts, just ask Lee Hi.
Lee Hi is in the midst of making her comeback to the music scene as a member of a sub-unit, Hi Suhyun, along with Akdong Musician singer Lee Suhyun and iKON‘s Bobby, and promoting their debut track, “I’m Different.” On November 14th, Lee Hi wasn’t scared to get a little intimate with MyDaily about the negative aspects of her idol life, and her desire to spend her downtime with someone special. She also revealed life as a YG artist isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and revealed how she and YG butted heads over her dating ban. She stated, “Just recently, CEO Yang Hyun Suk allowed Akdong Musician’s Lee Chanhyuk to start dating. However, when I asked ‘What about me?’ I received a negative response. Without giving me the reason, he said ‘If I say you cannot, you cannot.’ Because of that, I could not ask again.”
Lee Hi revealed her tireless efforts to change Yang Hyun Suk’s mind, “Even when I told him I struggle with expressing my emotions while singing, he said, ‘Indirect experience enables you to express a broad range of feelings as well.’ To Lee Suhyun, he said ‘You are still young, so you cannot date, but I’ll give you my permission when you turn 20.’ It appears I am the only one that cannot [date]. Even the length of my dating ban has not been decided.”
