Actor Lee Min Ho is set to launch his new donation project titled the “Transparent Umbrella Project.”
The project aims to hand out 2,500 free transparent umbrellas to establish the idea that children will be able to see clearly on rainy days.
Lee Min Ho had posted plans for the project on Wednesday on the Korean crowd-funding platform, Storyfunding. Within 10 hours, the project had already garnered 2 million hearts and counting.
The actor turned singer promised to administer the plan if the number of hearts surpasses 2 million. The action of giving hearts does not require payment.
He emphasized the need for the project to keep children from being injured by traffic. The actor was hospitalized for a year due to a car accident in 2006. He has reportedly encouraged elementary schools across the nation to participate in the project.
Lee Min Ho is known for organizing movements through the donation platform, Promiz. Earlier this year, the Hallyu star received “The Sharing Happiness Award” at the first annual Sharing Happiness Awards Ceremony at Sejong Hotel in Seoul. His contributions have been acknowledged by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The actor comments, “In order to repay the huge amount of love and support that I receive from fans across the world, I am proficient when it comes to sharing. I am interested in those who need a helping hand and will continue to grow as an actor who embraces the world with a kind heart.”
Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho will be making his small screen comeback in an upcoming fantasy drama titled “The Legend of the Blue Sea.” The 20 episode drama will be directed by producing director Jin Hyuk. Actress Jun Ji Hyun will also be starring in the drama which is expected to be premiered in November of this year.
