On October 13th, rookie girl group LIGHTSUM released the music video to their new lead single, ‘VIVACE’. The song comes off the octet’s 2nd single album named ‘Light A Wish’. Featuring two other tracks (‘You, Jam’ and ‘Popcorn’), they return hot off their successful debut. Debuting in June with their title track, ‘Vanilla’, the Cube Entertainment act sold over 40,000 copies to date. This first comeback expands the talents of the girls and showcases the group with the fast growing fanbase backing them.
In Italian, ‘VIVACE’ translates to lively or brisk. This perfectly encapsulates the song’s overall vibe. Featuring a modern future bass instrumental, the high tone chorus brings the liveliness alive as the girls’ youthful twinkling vocals sing the track along. The highlight is is the post-chorus as the melodic synth rings its energy. A slight slowdown in the second verse makes way of a tempo pausing rap however as they rap with attitude, the song returns to its swift pace.

LIGHTSUM ‘VIVACE’ MV:
Similarly to their debut effort, we see the girls in teen crush outfits. The sets around are not as sweet as those from earlier however they retain their vibrancy. With a bright blue, yellow, the box sets look fresh and crisp to focus solely on the flawlessly made members. Choreography wise, the group create various formations within a subset of the group; an advantage with a group containing more people. The interesting and eye-gluing changes along with the shifting camera angles display the dance as complex yet cleanly executed.
