On September 10th, BLACKPINK‘s LISA released the music video to her solo debut title track, ‘LALISA’. This came along with the identically named single album. Featuring the all English B-side, ‘Money’, the album further includes the instrumentals of the two songs. The debut of the Thailand-born member has been long awaited by fans of the quartet. With their entertainment agency, YG Entertainment announcing solo debuts of its four members as early as 2017, the 4 year wait has finally arrived. LISA becomes the third member to have a solo debut following members JENNIE and more recently ROSÉ in March this year.
The title track’s lyrics call out the singer’s talents, with everything in her grasp, she tells everyone to love her. The presence and straight forwardness of the lyrics display the long trained charisma that comes from the main dancer. The chorus whilst simple, is effective with the catchy repetition of the lyric ‘say LALILSA love me’ (LALISA is real name of the singer). Its instrumental switches it up in the dance break / bridge section. Taking on Thai influences, it gives a nod to her heritage, as well as gives variation and adds an exotic embellishment.

LISA ‘LALISA’ MV:
The music video showcases the various confident sides of the artist. It opens with a camera following behind as we see her split between a formal floor length black dress, and pop referenced blazer. Looking behind, the song begins with a white set with her name spelt out in huge blocks in the background. A large portion of the MV features choreography, of which we see her dominate the stage with swagger. Backed up by dancers, the point dance in the chorus uses two hands to form a ‘L’ and ‘A’ to signal to the name. The Thai influenced bridge is also reflected here, with the singer wearing traditional gold Thai wear and a crown. By the end, we return to the white dance set with the name pulsing on the final beat of the track.
LISA‘s 1st single album, ‘LALISA’, featuring the same named title track is available now!
