LOONA’s third subunit, LOONA yyxy has made their anticipated debut with track ‘love4eva’ featuring Canadian singer Grimes!
In an ambitious and unexpected collaboration, LOONA yyxy and Grimes have debuted the cutesy, bubblegum pop ‘love4eva’ for LOONA yyxy’s new EP ‘Beauty & The Beat’.
The track is energetic and fast-paced, with a feel-good vibe. It starts with a typical upbeat style, similar to other K-pop girl groups, but has unique synths and even a dubstep breakdown in the middle of the song. It has a bubbly sound and is sure to get stuck in your head!
“LOVE4EVA” OFFICIAL MV
Grimes is known for pushing the boundaries of pop music, and so is LOONA, which is what makes the two artists form such a good team. LOONA’s initial announcement and debut into the K-pop music scene took place over 18 months, with each member releasing a pre-debut solo – something practically unheard of in the K-pop community at the time.
The MV that accompanies ‘love4eva’ features cute dance moves, stunning close-ups of the members, and outfits that channel the movie ‘Clueless.’ At first, the MV seems innocent and happy – a group of friends in a school, with Grimes staring as their principle. Towards the end of the MV, the story takes a darker turn. Girls start to slowly disappear, and at the end, it is revealed that one member was alone the whole time – so what happened to the other members!?
Overall, ‘love4eva’ is a fun, ambitious track that marks a great debut for LOONA’s yyxy subunit, and hopefully paves the way for more collaborations between Korean artists and artists around the world.
Following the release of ‘love4eva,’ LOONA yyxy, which is made up of LOONA members Olivia Hye, Yves, Chuu and Go Won, also dropped a dance practice clip. The dance clip gives a closer look at the moves the girls used in the official MV and shows off the members perfect synchronisation with each other!
