A parody of “Gangnam Style” was shown at the recent party congress of the [Malaysian] Democratic Action Party (DAP) yesterday and received thunderous applause from delegates.
The parody “Ubah Roket Style” (translation: Change Rocket Style) is part of the campaign to prepare for the impending 13th General Election in Malaysia.
The video highlights various issues faced by average Malaysians such as rampant crime, rising living cost and corrupt practices. References were made to scandals that put Malaysia into the limelight which includes the National Feedlot Corporation fiasco, acquisition of military hardware, lavish lifestyle of the First Lady and environmental concerns of Lynas Advanced Material Plant.
The parody also featured the appearance by Chief Minister of Penang and party’s Secretary General Lim Guan Eng.
Democratic Action Party is an opposition party which is a component of the opposition coalition People’s Pact (Malay: Pakatan Rakyat) in Malaysia. A General Election is expected for Malaysia early next year.
