As both dramas are getting high ratings, it seems that these kind of dramas are hot in Korea right now, alongside the vampires.
What is a double life? Most of us already have an idea but that is not even close to what a double life in K-Drama means.
In “Mask” we have a doppelgänger (w. person who physically or behaviorally resembles another person.) case where the poor female lead gets inside the roller coaster of circumstances where she needs to live her life as her “other” self in order to survive, under high levels of stress and blackmail. So in other words, she is forced to do it.
Soo Ae and Ju Ji Hoon are portraying two really complex roles and in my opinion they are doing an excellent job. The Goong Prince has come back in very well written drama that’s worth watching.
Infinite’s Hoya also stars in this drama as the main lead’s brother, a very troubled young man with a difficult background. I can say Hoya once more proved everyone wrong with prejudices that acting idols have. Great work!
“High Society” on the other hand has a completely different case of a double life, less complex, but that doesn’t mean the drama is less worth watching. UEE is portraying a rich girl who voluntarily chooses a “poor” life to find her one true love, not based on her wealthy background because she wants to find a man who will love her for the way she is, not her money.
Sung Joon and ZE:A‘s Park Hyungsik are also a great plus if you are considering watching this drama, sexiness level is at maximum!
In the midst of so many dramas airing at the same time witha similar plot, it is really hard to receive good ratings, as we see in the case with the “Producer”, even with big names from the industry their highest rating was 17% and that is not even close to the “My Love From Another Star”.
We all have our different preferences but I can say that these two dramas deserve your attention, because even if the plot seems plain, there is a lot of other things that these two dramas have like an amazing script accompanied by outstanding actors will make them worth your time to watch.
What double life do you prefer? That from “Mask” or “High Society”? Please tell us all about it!
