Several broadcast companies, such as KBS, SBS, and MBC are waiting for the verdict to actor Park Si Hoo‘s case, unlike with the case from last year with Go Young Wook, since it involved minors.
A few days ago, Go Young Wook was sentenced to five years in jail with 10 years of wearing a monitored ankle bracelet for engaging in sexual acts with minors. Unlike in Park’s case, however, they had banned him from entering broadcast before the verdict was out, because of the involvement of minors since May of 2012.
Since Park’s case differs somewhat, they have decided to wait until the official verdict is released.
The media outlet, Osen called up the three stations and questioned them as to why they would wait. All three gave similar responses.
KBS stated that, “Since there is no decision, he is currently not a subject under broadcast regulations.”
SBS explained that, “People who have received sentences that are problematic to the society cannot appear on broadcast. We decide depending on common sense.”
MBC replied, “When a celebrity has caused a disturbance, we decide on whether to ban that person or not after there is a legal judgement. However, in the case of Go Young Wook, since the issue itself was on sexually assaulting minors, we had decided to ban him from appearing last year.”
Police investigations in the case have ended and have been sent to the prosecutors office for review. The case is likely to see the courtroom in the months to follow.
