Movie ‘Masquerade’ Gets Hit with Plagiarism Accusations

On September 28th Dong-A Newspaper reported that the film ‘Masquerade‘ and the 1993 Hollywood movie ‘Dave’ have got some similarities.

‘Masquerade’ is about a man who replace Chosun era’s King, Kwang Hae Geun, who do not wake up one day. ‘Dave’ tells the story about a man who takes the place of US President who falls into coma. Another similarity is that in both films the replacement is kept secret from the Queen or First Lady.  Some says that even the characters are similar.

CJ E&M Entertainment stated that they did not buy the rights to ‘Dave’ and they had not reffered to this movie. Representative said that, eventhough the overall ideas are similar, both movies tell two different stories.
