After some serious consideration, SBS has decided to allow the Monday-Tuesday drama “Mrs.Cop” to take on the season system, making SBS the first company to venture out before other major channels major channels such as MBC and KBS.
“Mrs.Cop” showed major promise when it first aired on August 3rd 2015. During the drama’s first episode, ratings according to Nielsen Korea revealed that “Mrs.Cop” sealed their spot as the 2nd most watched drama with recorded ratings of 8.4%, just 0.5% less than MBC’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Hwajung,” which came in first. The drama is not your average drama, with its take on a working mom who tries to find balance between being a cop and keeping her family life on track.A staff representative from SBS confirmed the news recently, stating that “A season system drama, like CSI or 007, keeps the big story line and format while breathing in new air with different characters.”
The drama raised so much interest for its quality that it brought up some concerns among viewers who enjoyed the series as well. They fear a show of this magnitude would lose its steam and drag on since the second season will not feature any of their main characters. SBS also confirmed that the main actors Lee Da Hee and Son Ho Jun will not be returning but instead the show will go another route which will focus will focus two main female leads, Kim Hee Ae and Kim Sung Ryung. Fans can expect the same drama, action, romance, and misadventures as the previous season.
Meanwhile, “Mrs. Cop 2” will be aired on March 5, following the drama “I Have a Lover.”
